Do the Rockets take a flyer on him at the prorated vets minimum on him? It appears they are currently $1.25 million under the hard capped first apron. Im guessing ge probably wants a little more playing time than what the Rockets can currently offer.
Depth for a true point guard is a position of need on the team. There is value in CP3 even now. But as mentioned, though he should be low minutes backup, doubt it's what he himself even will accept
Do it. He set up UH with the Jordan brand, allegedly. He's good in the southwest side of town. on me!
Would be a perfect mentor for Reed as well - Reed would have two vets on his ass 24/7 in CP3 and FVV lol. Only problem is I doubt CP3 would want to come back to Houston given how Fertitta made certain comments on his way out.
I'd be shocked if he didn't retire. He would be a perfect mentor for Reed, especially for defensive positioning and reading traps on offense.
This is the real reason I'd want him. Wouldn't expect him to play that much, just be on the team and be a mentor to players. I don't know if he'd come back though but maybe between KD and Ime he'd be cool with it. Also, if he wants to be a coach following his playing career he could slide right in to the coaching staff. I bet he goes to the other LA team to be with Bron though.
They're not releasing him so any team that wants him will have to trade for him. That actually works out well for us as I don't think we have the space to sign him otherwise. He makes a lot of sense on this roster and I can imagine him wanting to finish his career on a winner. Jeff Green for CP3? Great mentor for a young team. Wherever he goes, the team improves- except the Clippers this season apparently. I think Reed, Amen and Alpi would all benefit from having another high-IQ vet providing some feedback.
It's tough to say. He played 28 mpg last season for a decent Spurs team. I think he might have more in the tank than Jeff Green. As vet mentors go, he seems like an upgrade. As an emergency backup PG, he seems like a great option.
