California is first state to sue Trump on tariffs

Newsom’s lawsuit, announced Wednesday morning with California Attorney General Rob Bonta, is the first challenge from a U.S. state against Trump’s signature foreign policy cudgel.

“President Trump’s unlawful tariffs are wreaking chaos on California families, businesses, and our economy — driving up prices and threatening jobs,” Newsom said in a statement.
“We’re standing up for American families who can’t afford to let the chaos continue.”

The lawsuit is Newsom’s most direct legal challenge to Trump’s agenda since the president retook office in January. The move instantly reignites California’s war with Trump and
cements its place atop the resistance, after Newsom spent months appealing to the president for federal disaster relief.

Newsom and Bonta’s argument targets the International Economic Emergency Powers Act, the law Trump is using to impose tariffs without congressional approval.
The two argue Trump lacks the authority to levy tariffs under the law, mirroring a similar case filed Monday by a group of U.S. businesses. GOP Senators, Chuck Grassley,.
Rand Paul, Mitch McConnell and Susan Collins have publicized the same concern with the economic terrorism by Trump 2.0

    who will follow?

    I can see

Calif AG Bonta said Trump was “attempting to override Congress and steamroll the separation of powers” and that his “rogue and erratic tariffs” must be stopped to prevent further damage to California’s economy.

“Trump has had to resort to creating bogus national emergencies that defy reason,” Bonta said. “Bottom line: Trump doesn’t have the singular power to radically upend the country’s economic landscape. That’s not how democracy works.”

Newsom was unusually harsh when speaking about Trump’s tariffs, calling them the “poster child” for stupidity and an example of “crony capitalism” because of the president’s willingness to exempt products from favored industries such as electronics manufacturing.

“This is the personification of corruption,” Newsom said. “How in the hell are we sitting by and letting this happen?”

doesn’t matter if they’re just going to ignore the courts

laws and court orders are only effective if people choose to follow them

SC ruled 9-0 and republicans said

I say bring on the tariffs…this country needs to realize what it voted for

people will vote for all these dumbass republicans and their terrible policies just for the Democrats to bail them out or lessen the damage…then when Dems say, “hey, this is what republicans are doing or trying to do” it’s dismissed as fear mongering or hyperbole because the absolute worst was prevented from happening

people were told a million times that Trump planned on implementing these tariffs and were warned about the damage they would cause…people were told a million times that he planned on enacting project 2025…they either refused to listen or didn’t care, and now they’re crying because the garbage policies are affecting them

she sounds like a damn prophet

farmers got devastating during Trump’s 1st term to the point billions had to be spent bailing them out…They turned around and voted for him yet again, and guess what’s about to happen?

federal workers getting fired by thousands due to mythical fraud and abuse they’re not finding…SS, Medicare, and Medicaid about to get cut

    we were warned many times

Dude your video is misinformation. You didn't include her cackle which makes her unqualified and unfit to run for office. Her predictions about Trump's economic policy mean NOTHING when she has the audacity to LAUGH and have a cackle. I cannot stand for that injustice, and must support a corrupt dictatorship that promises a recession, and a lower standard of living so we can be in a much better spot in 20 years where my kid will have her dream job of screwing in tiny screws into Iphones for Chinese consumers.

You CANNOT post that video without that cackle. Without that cackle it is misinformation.

Retail Giant Costco Sues Trump 2.0 for Tariff Refunds

Costco has joined an expanding coalition of retail companies taking the Trump administration to court over its tariff policies.

The warehouse chain is suing to solidify eligibility for tariff refunds should the Supreme Court invalidate Trump 2.0's global "reciprocal" duties.

Filed on Thursday in the U.S. Court of International Trade (CIT), the complaint arose from widespread concerns about whether
businesses would be guaranteed repayments on the tariffs they've already paid should the high court find that the president
overstepped his authority in implementing them.

I'm shocked it has taken this long. I'm guessing the combination of big companies trying to kiss up to Trump and knowing tariffs are a bigger negative to small competitors are why they haven't previously sued.
