NBA scheduling is soft these days. Back then teams played back to back games. Miami to Portland.

If you want to see something hilarious, just compare the schedules played by Sacramento and then by OKC.

Yea I saw, but it’s always funny since OKC can’t really play itself and everyone is probably easy to them

it is definitely annoying. Because I want to watch the team and it also seems like a few games have started late and sometimes I just can’t stay up like that. I generally go to work about four or five in the morning.

But with the issues with DFS and the fact that we were incorporating so many new players I think it could end up in the favorable column as long as we get these guys back.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Rockets play the same number of games as all the other teams, and the season lasts +/- the same number of days for all the teams. I am fairly certain that the Rockets will play the same number of games over the same number of days as all of the other teams.

I care. The games being this spaced out early on means they will be packed together later. Which means fewer practices, more travel, and less rest down the stretch.

We all saw how tight the Western Conference got last season and its probably going to be similar this season so a hectic schedule in Jan-Feb-March isn't ideal

There are 15 teams that play 16 back to backs
There are 6 teams that play 15 back to backs
There are 5 teams that play 14 back to backs one of which is the Rockets
There are 5 teams that play 13 back to backs OKC is in this group

The instances where opponents are also playing B2Bs should not count since both teams face a similar difficulty. Rockets @ Jazz Sun/Mon is an example.

Of course that's true, but, if you've played 3 or 4 games less than the rest of the league up until this point, had no back-to-backs, etc., our schedule will likely be a lot more compact with fewer days of rest in the future as the season grinds on meaning the end of the season may be a bit tougher if we've accumulated more injuries (or may cause more injuries because of the schedule). Our first back-to-back is tomorrow against these same Jazz, but we don't fly anywhere. lol.

I get it. Just don’t think it’s as big a deal as people are making it out to be. It might even be good for the Rockets since they have 3 starters that are learning new roles and they get more practice time this way.

I agree. Having fewer games at the beginning benefits our new roster which gives them more time to practice and adjust into their new roles. Hence I think why DFS is not rushed into getting into our lineup. We'll need him fully healthy when our schedule ramps up in 2026.

    3 random teams, b2b games:

    OKC: 11 (3 already, 4 after March 1)
    HOU: 12 (5 after March 1)
    LAL: 14 (3 already, 4 after March 1)

Imagine living in a world of AI where you could just tell it the dates that you must have such as national games, all star break, and cup games; then give it criteria to follow and it will just make a balanced schedule for you. Yet you don't do that.

I disagree, the schedule still looks pretty easy to me. Plus, we used to have the most back-to-backs in years past, so I actually prefer how the schedule is set up now.

yeah, Rockets this year is getting tier 1 treatment from the league and definitely shows that they want to keep OKC, DEN, LAL and HOU not matched up early in the playoff. Most of B2B games are pretty favorable to us like playing against Jazz and Clippers

The rest days have benefited the team, we are in a stretch of 5 games in 7 days so that should help catch us up

This is intentional. Turns out veteran stars getting injured three times per year isn't good for ratings... nor is it good for ratings when those players sit out to rest because of all the unnecessary back-to-backs.

Ideally there would be ZERO back to backs, and 20-ish fewer regular season games. The 82 games is totally arbitrary, and way too many for such a demanding sport. While we're at it, should be two fewer games in every playoff series.
