Reed having a HESI is something Green never developed, Green just isn't that smart at basketball.

Most of Jalen’s good games were against tanking and inferior teams. Never did he show us on national tv against our biggest rival. What Reed did last game was special. Walked into starting lineup filling void of 3 key injuries and carried us to victory in front of the whole world against the damn warriors… not to mention for the last 3 weeks you could argue he’s been our best player.

You know the one position that should be able to shoot is shooting guard. It’s literally written in the name. Maybe if our SG could actually shoot it woulda helped everyone else out there and the spacing.. he was suppose to create gravity and space for Sengun to operate not vice versa..

I have a staunch record of backing up Reed and criticizing Jalen but this might be a little early. If the point is Reed Sheppard on 11/29/2025 is a more exciting prospect than Jalen was at any point in his Rockets tenure I'm definitely on board. If it's that Reed right now is a better player than Jalen at any point idk. Reed probably needs to keep this going for a bit longer. Two year ago Jalen played like a top 10 player in the league for a solid month, though with the caveat it was March basketball against teams that were mostly bad or missing players. On the whole he was a reasonably good player last year even though he was awful in the playoffs and could be extremely frustrating. I thought he was overpaid (though it worked out for salary matching) and think he's more suited as a high-end volume bench scorer like Crawford, Lou Will, and Clarkson, but those guys have been good NBA players nonetheless.

Reed is a good fit for this team, Jalen was not. The jury is still out on who will have the better career, although my bet is on Reed. Booker/Jalen is a ton better backcourt than FVV/Jalen.

I'm a big Reed supporter, but I think this is a little premature, honestly. Jalen had streaks where he was just as good. Reed's got to keep it going for most of the season.

Not everyone is Jalen. Rarely do you see a player bounce between super star and WTF frequently. Reed is pretty unique himself, but is not likely to be in that rare yo-yoing that we saw from Jalen.

So, yea, well, he leaped Jalen already. I'm there :)

What I have enjoyed seeing is vets like Durant, Adams and Van Vleet encouraging Sheppard during games.

The best thing about Reed Sheppards play now is that it's still very early in the season. He will be on another level come Allstar break. Then battle ready come Playoffs.

the biggest advantage Reed has over Jalen is he has ime as a coach. I think Jalen's time with silas ****ed him up. shiii I think Sengun and Bari would be farther along without silas.

Using Warriors Playoffs at the only metric of comparison, that means Fred VanVleet is team MVP who has "lapped" every single Rocket past 5 years, give him keys to the franchise. And Sengun is "kinda mid" fools gold getting locked up by smaller Draymond (and still didn't figure out Draymond again so ship him out like Jalen)

Nice promising game by Reed, but give at least 25 more games

Jalen is not a bad player. It's just that he's wildly inconsistent and overall inefficient. That would have been okay if he was a good play maker and plus defender. But he's neither. Being the top scorer and highest usage guy on the team, he just takes away so much from his teammates and thereby drags down the team's overall effectiveness.

The biggest advantages Reed has over the draft bust is skill and IQ.

Harden was (rightfully) criticized for having 7 game series with 2 good games, 3 mediocre ones, and 2 stinkers, as that was unbecoming of a star player. Jalen's debut was 1 good game and 6 stinkers. Much like game 7 against Utah in 2007, where Yao and T-Mac were the only two dudes who showed up, Game 7 against GSW last year showed the two dudes you build around: Amen and Alperen. Everyone else was expendable, and the worst of the bunch were shipped off.

He'll probably end up being a really good 6th man if this just is what he is. Just wasn't going to happen with the Rockets after drafting him #2 and giving him the keys to the franchise for four years.

When the Rockets drafted Amen it put Jalen Greens future with the Rockets on notice. However when the Rockets drafted Reed, it was the writing on the wall it was inevitable The wind of change.

Green was all but on the outside looking in.

Jalen was incredibly inconsistent. His performance levels were not easily predictable and as a high volume fairly low efficiency (.42% career shooter) player he could often contribute to losses as well as contributing to wins. He just didn't seem to be improving in ways that were conducive for the future.
I would add there is considerable data to work from, he played 307 games for the Rockets. Almost all of this team stats were not positive. Maybe Phoenix can put together a plan that works for his style. Time will tell but as for the Rockets IMHO he wasn't a positive.
