I think he would be very helpful off the bench for 15-20mpg during the playoffs. It depends on what Ime would be thinking, which I don't have a clear read on and I think people making too many assumptions about.
I hope they both know. KD wasn’t even here last year, the team is not the same. FVV is not our answer, because he slow down our play and takes the ball out of others hands to do it. I see value in him but not on this team anymore. (Playing style, contract and age) He is in the same place he was with the Raptors. The team has moved on from him.
Jabari, Tari, DFS, and the double-big (assuming Amen and Durant will play starter minutes) are too much of a competition for Okogie to carve out a significant role at the 3 and 4 positions. He will likely be competing with FVV and Holiday for the back court minutes. My hunch is that if FVV comes back strong at the end of this season, Okogie won't be back next season.
Anyone “worried” about fvv coming back this season can stop worrying, there’s a zero percent chance. He has a torn acl.
So he comes back in April and is in Preseason form and inserted into the Starting lineup??????! This hypothesis be crazy.
Reed's backup. Consider it a head start on what will happen next season no matter whether Fred's healthy or not.
I think it's highly unlikely but the Rockets and Fred haven't ruled out his return near the end of the season.
Pretty sure he would come off the bench and ramp things up from there. If Holiday continues to play this well, it maybe hard for FVV to get ramped up this season. I think FVV would definitely be given the 6th man type of role next season and it would be up to him to keep it. Ime is more meritocratic than people believe and I think fans have underestimated how important possessions are for the coaching staff and FO.
The team should be fully able to function without him by the time he returns so anything he brings is a bonus. Should be off the bench imo, if our record is good these guys will have earned it.
1. He won't. 2. We are better without him, and getting even better. 3. His days as a starter are over here in Houston. DD
If Reed continues starting and keeps improving at the one during the course of the season, Fred will have to bite the bullet and back him up if he makes it back before the playoffs (no sure thing at all). I think Ime will do what's best for the team, as will Fred, whether he likes it or not. The guy is the very definition of a professional.
