I saw a some episodes back in the day...the older doctors (John C. McGinley, Christa Miller and the Chief of Whatever) and janitor were the best thing about it. Everyone else was just about unwatchably annoying
Revivals like this always remind me of the "it insists upon itself" line: And that is why it won't be good. it will be a vehicle for self-referencing kitschy nostalgia. The writers have a no-win scenario in these shows.
Scrubs is one of my top 5 series off all time. However I do not see this going well. Sort of like season 9. Why not just create something new.
I get what you’re saying but being a fan and doing the same thing over and over because it’s comfortable are different things.
Bill Lawrence will make it at least decent. He’s the best sitcom guy since James Burrows. Lear Burrows Lawrence Lorre Schur Not that I like all of their sitcoms, but they are my top five. I don’t count James L. Brooks.
It was always an "ABC" produced show that they happen to let NBC have the broadcast rights to. Weird stuff with those networks back in the day. These things are always a combination of money grabs as well as the actors not having much else going on... and then you have reboots like Will and grace exceed expectations, lack of original ideas, lack of legacy network TV having as much sway, and allofasudden these ideas start to come to light. Honestly, most of evening tv watching america is comprised of those obsessed with the news/political theater... so this doesn't have to even be that great to be a breath of fresh air. Also medical stuff writes itself as there is endless source material (just gotta find either the humorous twist for this show... or the dramatic twist for the 17 other shows).
Scrubs is safely my favorite sitcom of all time, but I'm still not confident this will be "good". That said, for me it doesn't really have to be. Because even the worst of Scrubs (most of all season 9, and to a lesser extent season 6), to me is better than most sitcoms. This could be probably be worse than both and I'd still watch it. Frankly I just implicitly trust Bill Lawrence at this point. And it's not like revivals have never worked anyway. Dexter alone made what I would call three separate solid comebacks in New Blood, Original Sin, and Resurrection, following a latter 4 seasons of the series proper that were aggressively mediocre on average.
Watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. 97% of the music is at least 20 years old. Terrestrial, commercial-driven television is dead, going to be a stark picture once Boomers start dropping in earnest.
I never watched the show while it was originally on, but years later someone told me to watch it since I used to work in a hospital. I thought it was hilarious. Doubtful a re-birth'ed series will be good, but who knows. Yeah, then we'll be paying more so we won't see commercials while watching extra-terrestrial television while listening to AI-created music. LOL.
