You have misstated the facts. The EU and the US have roughly provided equal financial support to Ukraine.

Yet the US wants to dictate terms of a Ukraine and Russia peace deal without the input of the EU or even Ukraine.

Thought experiment: If the US spends $40 billion a year in Ukraine aid out of its yearly $7 trillion budget, how much of every @Space Ghost $1 sent to the federal government is spent on Ukraine aid?
    a half of a penny

@Space Ghost 's primary concern is not that half of penny being wasted; it purely idealogical. IMO nothing to stress or lose sleep over.

Who Spends More On Ukraine Aid: The US Or EU?

The US, EU, and other allies have spent over $287 billion in total on supporting Ukraine since just before Russia launched its full-scale invasion in 2022, according to the Kiel Institute for the World Economy think tank.

The United States is the single largest donor to Ukraine, having provided over $122 billion in financial, humanitarian, and military assistance.

EU member states, and the European Commission, combined have spent around the same amount -- $121.87 billion -- as the United States between January 2022 and December 2024.

Look at how mad the liberals are that President Trump has brought peace to the Russia-Ukraine war that Joe Biden and Anthony Blinken provoked. Speaks volumes to whether they put their country over party. They clearly don't -- the American liberal would rather see Ukrainians die every day in trench warfare than to see Trump secure another foreign policy win. It's a sad state of affairs for these frustrated libs!

    GOOD DAY

    they’re like cartoon characters atp

all the damage and destruction they’ve done, imagine if they weren’t all incompetent buffoons and bumbling idiots

republicans aren’t capable of governing effectively…you can’t run a country on a platform of “own da libs” and billionaire tax cuts

less than 20 years of republican rule would be enough to turn the United States into a legitimate sh*thole country

look at most of the red states…at the bottom when it comes to education, healthcare, wages, mortality, and more…they depend on blue state welfare just to survive

This is getting your ass kicked by the school bully and refusing to back down until the bully gives full compensation and then some. Meanwhile, entitled Liberals encourage the fool to take the ass beating because they too deserve whatever their liberal heart desires. Their entitlement stems from the nanny state giving them anything they want. Spoiled little brats who have never accomplished anything in their life of real worth. These are the George Soros of the world.

There is zero logic. Pure insanity.

No it's more like working behind the scenes of an Authoritarian expansionist aggressive super power that invaded a democratic nation and selling out that nation in favor of the authoritarian super power that invaded the Democratic nation.

This is what irritates me to no end about this war and the "debates" we have. It almost always ignores the Ukrainians and removes agency from a people that have been invaded, bombed, raped, kidnapped, tortured, killed, are armed, and have been in battle for years now. Nobody is going to "dictate" anything to these folks. It matters little what "diplomats" decide or what papers are signed in Paris. Sure, you can have a paper peace I guess, but a bunch of Ukrainians will keep fighting--in one way or another--if they don't agree with it. The only peace Ukraine can accept is one that is acceptable to the people being bombed in their homes and willing to die on the battlefield. That peace is in no way aligned with Putin's desires. Also, we know from a number of examples in history that a bad peace can make a future war much, much worse. Ignore Ukrainians at your own peril.

Simple question - Did you ever believe Ukraine would be able to not only repel, but drive Russia out of Ukraine with zero man power from other countries?
Second question - Did you ever believe NATO would provide troops?

This is akin to a 6 year old getting bullied by a 12 year old, and then you telling the 6 year old he should stand up for himself. And the only thing you're going to offer is to teach him a few defensive moves and some karate. And then while he is getting his ass kicked, you keep telling him not to give up until the bully gives a full apology and the bully gives all of his lunch money for the month to the 6 year old. Do you not understand how stupid this sounds? The only thing that will stop the bully is a bigger person beating the **** out of him. And its incredibly obvious nobody is going to war with Russia.
This has been the conundrum since day 1. And you war mongers keep pushing for more death. incredibly unethical take. Ukraine was NEVER going to stop Russia with no troop support from NATO.

    It ... is ... not ... akin.

This is a 6 year old punching the 12 year old bully in the nose.

Hm. I used to do that.

You punch the bully in the face enough and they go looking for easier prey. It might hurt you but it also hurts them.

Don't be absurd. It's a false comparison, though I'm sure a lot of folks thought the same way about Vietnam or Iraq or Afghanistan (Russians too). Wealth and might does not subdue a population. Technological prowess does not automatically win wars. Societal behavior is different than individuals. Way different.

To answer your question, when Russia first invaded, I was not optimistic. Yet Ukraine did stymie the invasion, Kyiv still stands, and the extended war has shone a bright light on the inefficiencies and lack of strategy by the Russian military. Do you think that help from western countries would have come without the early successes Ukraine had when they were fighting by themselves? In February, it will be four years since the invasion--did you ever think Russia would fail to take Ukraine in that time? Did you think they would still be in essentially a trench warfare posture, slogging it out for small gains at tremendous cost in lives? Did you ever think Russia would need North Korean troops to help fight Ukrainians? Did you ever think Ukraine could take Russian territory?

Russia will try NATO regardless of Ukraine peace deal, experts warn
    By Elisabeth Gosselin-Malo
    Monday, Nov 24, 2025

MILAN — As Ukraine weighs a U.S.-imposed peace deal deemed unfavorable to Kyiv, Russia could be ready to challenge NATO again soon after the weapons go silent, experts warned at a Baltic security conference last week.

“You might not choose to have a war with the Russians, but the Russians are certainly choosing to prepare to conduct a war against you,” George Barros, lead analyst on Russia and geospatial intelligence at the Institute for the Study of War, said during a panel at the Defending the Baltics 2025 conference. “We’re watching every day how they’re preparing their economy, operational concepts and their military thinking about the next war.”

Barros estimated NATO would have 12 months to prepare for fresh provocations after the end of fighting in Ukraine. “We have a lot less time than some would argue.”

A key point made by delegates throughout the conference, which took place in Lithuania’s capital, Vilnius, Nov. 17-18, was that future Russian aggression would unlikely resemble the 2022 assault on Ukraine. Rather, it is expected to be non-traditional or hybrid, with tactics including cyber-attacks, sabotage, disinformation campaigns and destabilizing campaigns in NATO countries.

At the same time, Western intelligence services have warned for years that Moscow is also trying to boost its traditional military capabilities, putting Russia in a position to threaten the alliance by the turn of the decade.

Last month, the Ukrainian open-source intelligence organization Frontelligence Insight published internal documents from Russian tank manufacturer Uralvagonzavod that reportedly included a goal of increasing T-90 battle tank production by 80 % by 2028.

A subsequent assessment by the U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War argued the tank figures indicate an intention to rearm and pose a long-term threat to NATO after the war in Ukraine.
