Sure you can if you move Sanchez/Meyers etc... to clear up money to add to the existing money and sign/trade for a couple of SP's. Then trade for a Bat like Donovan, my thing is Dana is a great scout, I'm not sure how good of a GM he is?
I hope they don't trade Paredes. He's on a team-friendly contract. And he's one of the few on this team that can actually draw walks on a consistent basis. After trading Dubon for Allen, I think we'd be downgrading again going from Parades to Donovan.
He was promoted at each of those stops. I don’t know how good a GM he ultimately will be, but he has proven himself to be an excellent scout and draft supervisor.
Mets fans are now expecting a push for Tucker/Bellinger or both because they needed outfielder even before this trade. Nimmo waived NTC for this and there has been some clubhouse stuff brewing few years now about money(who gets the bag) and who are the real captains. Was it Pham who said Mets was least hard working team he has ever seen. Maybe insert meat head filter for Pham but some weird stuff with the team. Anyhow I like the idea of Mets signing Tucker in case Im wrong about Tucker so he will not be killing us in AL. Tucker is still talked as 5 tool superplayer and getting 350-500m. I think the team (not Dodgers & Mets who can afford mistakes) who signs him is fkd. D is overrated and not trying too much before had the plus of him being healthy and available always but injuries starting to pop up. Im also interested to see how swing speed and stealing bases ages without gym training.
Sanchez strikes me as a talented headcase. It wouldn't shock me if he struggled with adjusting to a trade more than most which explains his meltdown. My alternate universe expectation: I was expecting them to non-tender him, and for him to then go on and make an all star team for a non-contender with pace for 35 or so HR, get traded at the deadline again for a healthy ransom, and then see his production fall off a cliff down the stretch.
Players struggle every year for a handful of weeks and then bounce back. Bregman had notoriously slow starts to seasons. I don't remember fans saying he was a head case. Sanchez is entering his year 28 season. We should see "peak" Sanchez in 2026. Projecting his 2026 season from his previous season, Sanchez is player that the Astros would want to keep, for 2026 and 2027. I suspect that other MLB GMs see that value as well, if the Astros do decide to trade.
I have/had a personal dislike because he keeps friggin' smiling even when F***ing up royally. It feels like he is just happy to be there and whatever happens is fine. I see the talent and historical production in a strenches. He's an Astro so now I hope he becomes a lefty J D. Martinez
If Jeff Luhnow was so great, why didn't the Cardinals find a way to keep him? If you are happy with the GM then a guy like Brown and Luhnow will need to move on to eventually become a GM. I feel very confident in Browns scouting abilities. What I don't feel as confident about is his ability to think outside the box and stay ahead of the curve as it relates to total roster construction.
Interesting. Young guy, not even 30, 7 years with the Rangers, worked for inside edge. His time in Puerto Rico was probably a plus. Didn’t play baseball in college or pros and isn’t an Ivy League guy.
