You have your opinions which certainly aren’t all truths or facts. Let’s not let your emotion cloud a discussion especially when I never dismissed your opinions. Anyone can be traded in this league at a price. As I said this roster isn’t enough. This iteration isn’t enough. The goal of this team is to win a championship now. That was the reason they made the acquisitions they made last summer. After observing how the team has played thus far, Thompson has serious scoring limitations. No other contender has a starting guard/wing and main cog that can’t shoot beyond 10 ft like Amen. If there’s a deal out there to be made they should explore it to win now. That goal has not changed. It’s a matter of what they’re willing to do. Raptors went all in on Kawhi to win now knowing he may step away the next season. The goal was still to win a championship that year. Rockets gave away two very capable players for an aging star to win now. Is this roster enough to win now? If kawhi is out there you make that deal happen if you can. Is it likely? No. But this iteration isn’t good enough and it’s becoming more apparent each game.
LOL yea let's just trade Amen and Reed Sheppard and 2 first round picks for Tray Young or Kyrie or Lamelo Ball that's the smart way to go!!
I think we can win a championship, maybe multiple championships without Durant, so in my opinion it would be a detriment to our goal to trade a potential superstar in order to maximize 2 years of an aging Durant (and he is big-time aging). It’s all about patience with these young guys. Amen, Sengun, Jabari, Tari, Sheppard are all improving. For the record, I think FVV was more of a detriment to this team than Jalen, but Phoenix did not want FVV and even if they did our stubborn coach would have nixed it. Even with the growing pains we are having our offense has been playing better than last year. Two bigs is what’s destroying our spacing and the zone is killing our defense, not lack of a pg or poor shooting.
I don’t think KD joined the Rockets to win this year. He was thinking more of a long term where he can reduce his role while helping out young guys, bringing aging super star will go against his vision of joining young team where every legacy stars have bleak future other than him at the moment
I disagree with you. What is killing this team is decision making without a pg and consistently over relying on Sengun or KD to make a play. Neither of our 2 stars can get into the paint consistently since they’re both bigger players. They aren’t guards. When they get in a jam there’s no ball handler to calm the offense and run a set. Instead every half court set seems rushed and chaotic. Durant or Sengun often forces plays when they aren’t there resulting in TO’s. We have a combo guard but he can’t shoot beyond 10 ft. Maybe 5-7 at this point. This restricts our scoring opportunities and puts even more pressure on the 2 stars to make plays. Then you have Okogie who has Ariza type deficiencies of going to the paint which restricts this offense further. I was hoping Amen either acquired a 15 ft plus mid range or 3 pt shot but neither has happened.
Yea. Honestly I hope we keep all 5 of them. I think Reed, Amen, Tari, Bari, and Sengun have a championship potential core if healthy and if they keep improving. We already got rid of a few youngsters I hope we can keep these 5.
"We're not a developmental team anymore," Rockets general manager Rafael Stone told reporters Monday in his first public comments since the Durant trade. With Durant in the fold, "our goal is definitely to win a championship," he said, and the Rockets are optimistic that they have put together the kind of team that can do so. https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/...eason-were-not-a-developmental-team-anymore/#
KD and Harden are definitely unicorns.....IDK.....I doubt many 37 year olds are averaging that. The Downside is you would never know when they lose their interest in playing competitive basketball because they can score so easily.
I like Rain Man and Reign Man, but his vibe is less Walmart brand underwear and more Jimmy Chitwood. Maybe Converse will sponsor and he can bring the leather all-star back into fashion. Grow the dirty little p*rn stache and add a mullet and we have a bona fide celebrity in our midst. As long as he keeps raining 3s and celebrating like he did last night again Denver.
Agreed, I think there's a potential dynasty with these guys. We could be running the league in a few years.
I think I’ve heard the front office doesn’t consider the trade for KD an all in move given what we have up to acquire him. In other words the window to win now AND grow the young players we’ve drafted hasn’t shortened in their perspective. I’m curious why you think the window has shortened to where we need to push more assets for a win-now move? I mean if we gave up more for KD I could see an argument for that. But I’m not sure what’s materially changed in our timeline even with the addition of KD.
