I don't think FVV will agree to a trade just anywhere, but the better Reed gets, the more likely he's willing to accept a trade.
He's in a good situation here right now. Coach loves him, seems to have a good relationship with his teammates, playing for a contender, I think he's settled into Houston with his family IIRC. It's hard for me to see him agreeing to most trades, if any at all, at the deadline. Next offseason, if he's told he'll have to come off the bench, maybe? That's one of the reasons I'm mainly focused on smaller deals. What would it take to get Scotty Pippen Jr from Memphis? We love making trades with that front office, and while he's a good young player on a great contract, he's not exactly a cornerstone of a team that looks like it's heading into a soft rebuild.
If he picks up his option, I don't think he has the no trade clause next year. They can move him at the team's discretion?? Either way, I agree with the idea of smaller deals that don't involve Fred, just that the market is very limited and I don't want to change the dynamics of this team.
Regarding smaller deals, I am not that keen on giving real assets for Sexton or Monk. Definitely not Tari or first round picks. Wouldn’t mind a move for one of the Jones brothers. Tyus is having a horrid year with the Magic and the Capela contract should be sufficient value. TJ McConnell should also be gettable at a reasonable price, fits DFS salary. To be honest, none of these moves move the needle, perhaps best to hold for now and make a bigger move in the summer.
TJ is a guy I thought about too, always liked him and he can definitely run an offense. Not much of an outside shooter / floor spacer though, really just a single wide open catch and shoot attempt each game, and he's getting into his mid 30s at this point. Overall, I agree nothing sounds that exciting. If we want to pick up a solid bench point guard like TJ, Pippen Jr, Tyus or Tre Jones, Alvarado, any of those guys would be good depth and capable of giving us 15mpg, but I don't think they're huge upgrades from Holiday.
