with 18 PF's on the team it looks like we can afford to move one or two of them. there are some weak spots on our roster that can be improved such as the 1 and 3.

mo and JH take turns having a good game. that makes it pretty hard to decide who is worth keeping. padgett cant be traded, and spoon is an ex knick, take that as you will.

another nice package we could put together is lue and boki. both are young and have ending contracts.

between a package of PF's and a package of young players on ending contracts we could make a decent offer to a lot of teams.

so, what do you think the chances are of making a trade? and who would you REALISTICALLY want to get back?

    My Thoughts.

I would like to package some of our guys and pick up a few better fits..

The criteria I am using is.

    1. We actually have a shot at getting this guy.
    2. He fulfills a need
    3. Someone I would actually want on the team.
    4. I dont want to fill the need of someone in the same conference that would put them over the top unless it benefits us much more.

With that in mind the players that have caught my eye.

    PG's -

BJackson (Sac) is yearning to become a starter and get out of Bibby's shadow. (im hoping)

SClaxton (GS) still has a reasonable contract and is losing minutes to Derek Fischer.

ADaniels (Sea) there team is playing well right now I would wait for them to slump before making them any offers.

KKittles (LAC) I think he can run a team and knock down the

Sura is definately move of a backup 2/3 than a PG but im hoping we will fit the bill when he returns.

    PF's -

im hoping we can move some of our PF's (packaged) for a defensive 4/5. *similar to a Cato.

hmmm... how about Cato (Orl) ? you remember what he did for us last year forming a nice 1/2 combo in the middle.

    DDavis (GS) Defensive Enforcer Type
TMurphy (GS) I prefer Troy but he just signed a big contract.
AMourning (NJ) wants to play for a contender
SSwift (Griz) good rebounder, very athletic
    EThomas (Wiz)
CWebb (Sac) They have been wanting to move him and his huge contract and would be a good fit for us to sit and knock down his midrange jumper and much better rebounder than anyone on our team.

*players I want to stay away from.

SAR - just too overrated and is not a difference maker anywhere he goes.
VanExcel - same applies, if we could sign him to a smaller contract next season when he's a FA that would be a different story.

room4rentsf - i like your picks. esp. the PG's bobby jax would be great, but might want a lot of money next year. claxton and AD would be very nice. as would marco jaric.

for PF, muphy, webb, and swift might be out of our league. etan thomas would be great! davis and mourning are still very good fits but they are older.

i think of those you talked about we have a real shot at either claxton or mourning. the nets are trying to dump salarie, we have some ending contracts, we could make something work. plus we might be one of the few teams that would still be interested in zo. claxton would be nice on D and running the team but he can't shoot. we might be better off waiting till next summer to sign a PG.

I would like a Lue/Gaines for Jaric/Moore trade. Jaric could be a good fit with the team as a Steve Kerr-like PG/SG. Mikki Moore is listed as a center but lacks some bulk for the position. He reminds me ALOT of Tyson Chandler. He is a legit 7'0, athletic, runs real well, a good shot blocker and has a decent mid-range shot.

Not sure is JVG would view Jaric as a solution at the point and, if this trade were to happen to go down, the Rockets would have to unload another PF, but I do like the possibilities.

I really would like the Rockets to make an offer for Radmanovic.

    He provides perimeter shooting.

I would prefer seeing him guard tall lean 4’s like Gasol, Dirk, Odom, Bosh, etc rather than Howard and Taylor guarding them.

And let’s face it, JJ’s not getting any younger. It would be nice to have someone waiting in the wings to replace him.

I think Boston would be an obvious trading partner.
Doc Rivers is very familiar with the ex-Magic players currently on our roster. The Celtics seem to be in need of another veteran big to compliment LaFrentz and Blount.

Additionally, there has been rumors that Gary Payton will not remain in Boston this season and that Boston is willing to part with Jiri Welsch.

While I have not ran the numbers, some combination of Howard, Lue + fodder for Payton, Welsch + fodder might work. A bonus would be to get the Celtics to include Al Jefferson who has been labeled as a strong, athletic rebounder.

I'm a native of the Boston area and as of right now, the Celtics are are very very high on this Al Jefferson kid. Al Jefferson has shown flashes greatness in the little the time he has had. I highly doubt the Celts will trade this young kid.

You're probably right, which is why I saw it as a bonus if we could get Jefferson. Without Jefferson, does the rest of the deal make sense from a Boston perspective?

New Jack I like Radman's shooting too but I doubt if he can guard the tall and athletic 4's that you mentioned.
I would like to see him on the Rocks though.
Jiri Welsch could be a younger Sura. I like his shooting and his passing for a 2 guard is pretty good too.

I dont think the trade would make any sense for Boston. With Danny Ainge running the show here, Celts are back to the REBUILDING process. Why would the Celts want Howards hefty contract? He has what, 3-4 years left @ 7-9 million dollars a season.

I think our biggest need is at the 1 right now and I like Bobby Jackson. I think if he got the same minutes of Mobley did he could produce the same numbers. I'd trade Juwan for him. BJackson playing 33 minutes a game over the production of Ward is gonna bring more to the table than Juwan playing 18 minutes over Padget or Spoon. The only down side of BJackson is he's not an assist guy, but T-Mac and Yao can both create for the teammates.

I wish the Rockets could somehow get Tinsley, but I highly doubt the Pacers would let him go.

    But just for fun:

    Gaines/Lue/Jackson/Taylor

    for

    Tinsley/Foster/Croshere

and you hope Nachbar can handle the starting SF for the rest of the season.

    Tinsley/TMac/Nachbar/Howard/Yao

how about us trading for Dalembert? I wonder why he was benched this season. Is he injured? or the coach doesn't like his play in his system?

I believe its that Jim O'Brien, the head coach doesn't feel that Dalembert fits into the "hardworking" system that the Sixers are currently running. At least thats what I've read on the subject of Dalembert being sat.

dalembert doesnt sound like a JVG type player. also he can't really shoot the ball. it would be like having cato at the 4 again.

I think Cato comes closer to what JVG wants at the 4 than any of the PFs on our roster currently.

I expect we'll make a trade. I think JVG wants Kurt Thomas. Not sure what the Knicks would want for him. I could see us trading Boki too if he plays well, and we think we'll lose him in the offseason.

Dalembert is a 5 who runs well in the open court, can block shots and rebound. He is the kind of player I would like to see on our team after Deke leaves us. I think a lot of teams will want him so the chances of him being a future Rocket seem slim.

    How about this one?

    Houston sends Taylor/Nachbar/Lue/Badiane to Boston.

    Boston sends Payton/Welsch/Stewart to Houston.

The trade would be presented to Boston as, they can choose which of our 3 tradeable PF's (Howard, Taylor, Spoon) they'd like & which of our 3 unsigned draft picks (Hill, Badiane, Spanoulis) they'd like to choose from. We might have to give up our #1 pick this year as well, but it's most likely going to be a late round pick. If they choose Howard or Spoon, then they'll have to send Goog's in place of Stewart to make it work.

With Howard moving into the starting role at PF, our retooled lineup would be:

    C: Yao/Mutumbo
    PF: Howard/Spoon/Padgett/Stewart
    SF: JJ/Welsch/Bowen
    SG: McGrady/Sura/JJ/Gaines(IL)
    PG: Payton/Sura/Ward/Barrett(IL)

When Sura comes back, Ward will go on the IL, if we choose to keep Stewart around for cheap fouls.
