Mills is a serviceable backup. If a genius QB whisperer gets ahold if him, maybe he can have a late career surge. if we get offered a third round pick, he is gone, maybe a fourth.

And it's kind of been that way in all 3 of his starts. 3 bad quarters and 1 good one. Luckily, we have an amazing defense that allows for that to happen and turn into victories. I'm not concerned about CJ because he was trending better from the start of the season. I think some of those throws that Mills missed terribly in the 1st half last night are completions with CJ.

Mills did exactly what he was supposed to do. The defense keeps us close. He just needed to not f*** it up and that's what he did.

It’s going to take at least a 2nd round pick…. Considering most backups get drafted 3rd and later need time to get developed into a serviceable backup. Mills is developed and shown what he can do on tape.

Matt Schaub was had for 2 2nd round picks and he was a backup before becoming a starter….

Mills did his job superbly, the season could have gone completely sideways after CJ went down, but instead we are back in the mix. Nevertheless, a think folks are getting a little carried away a la Cody Carlson.

He came in the Broncos game in the 1st quarter, and was pretty terrible the whole game.
He was bad for 3 quarters against the Jags.
He had a very meh game against an awful Titans team.
He had a good last few minutes of the 2nd quarter last night.

But in all games, he was terrific at avoiding mistakes and mitigating poor pass protection by making immediate decisions and ripping passes (albeit inaccurate or too early before receivers broke their routes) before the pocket could collapse. I hope CJ learned from watching Mills that an incomplete pass is always better than a sack, and CJ has the gift and skill to be able to actually complete those quick, decisive passes with better ball placement and accuracy than Mills can.

No and the suggestions that he should be are ridiculous. Mills has had 3 good quarters over 3 games. Just enough to win those but Stroud is far and away a better QB with a much higher ceiling.

Stroud might be suffering from shellshock. Believe it or not Thrills is making this look easy.

With this elite defense, the QB we need is just a game manager who doesn’t make mistakes. We just beat a Super Bowl contender in prime time with that formula. Avoiding mistakes, not making spectacular plays, is the mission.

Game Managers don't win Superbowls anymore. It has happened twice in 20 years.
