Stroud is not in control of when he clears protocol. Neither are the Texans. The process is administered by an independent, third-party neurologist. If he's been out this long, it very obviously means he suffered a significant head injury. I try to stay out of managing how fans fan.... but given everything we know, denigrating a player when they are dealing with a head injury that was fully out of their control - from the occurrence (an illegal hit) to the recovery, which he does not dictate - is an incredibly bad look. Stroud is not lame, or soft, or weak - or any other bullshit machismo, tough-guy nonsense. He is recovering from a significant head injury and his full, healthy recovery - and not the results of the team in his absence - should be all of our priority here.
If they can contain the Bill’s run game then we have a real shot. Obviously I’m not excited at the prospect then of Allen slinging it but you gotta trust the secondary to do its job. Buffalo doesn’t have game breaking #1 receivers. Of course all will be for naught if our O line can’t protect against the pass rush. Just please don’t let it be a heartbreaking loss.
That's true. I've been calling him out myself. Still, in the back of my mind you have people that more than not make things happen and people that things tend to always happen to. CJ may not be tough enough mentally, emotionally and physically to be the successful QB that the Houston Texans need. That doesn't mean he couldn't be a better fit elsewhere. It's hard enough to play as it is in the NFL as QB not to mention being available to be successful. I hope he gets better health wise but the Texans have some serious decisions to make overall with the personnel on this football team.
All this is supposedly true and yet, last year, Allen looked visibly concussed, went into the blue tent, then to the locker room, and then came back and played against us. Not to mention nearly every other QB doesn’t miss this much time. Doesn’t mean Stroud is lame but I am not sure how much I believe in the whole “independent” neurologist ****.
Stroud would be back if this was a normal week. It doesn’t matter what YOU believe, there is a protocol in place. I guess you just ignore that Pitre is missing the same amount of time. Trevor Lawerence missed the rest of the season after the AL- Shaair hit. Yes, it was combined with a shoulder injury . However, he was still in protocol after 2 weeks.
The team needs to take this as a final wakeup call on their Oline. If Stroud, at this age, is already missing multiple games from a concussion, it is likely it will happen again for future concussions. If they can't protect him, it will happen more and more often. I gotta imagine after this season so far they realize it needs to be a greater area of attention in the upcoming offseason, but if it wasn't from our offensive performance, it should be from this. Protect CJ.
you are absolutely correct. Strouds hit was nowhere as brutal as Trevor's. Most QBs would be back already These guys keep mentioning protocol but fail to understand that the player can pass it. I guarantee all the elite QBs would have played this game if they took the same hit. There are chatters already among fans & actual professional former players of CJs toughness These guys on here are being homers and don't want to critique CJ. The truth is, this is the type of situation that loses the locker room. U remember his concussion last season? Again, wasn't even a brutal hit. I'm rooting for CJ of course because I believe he is talented enough to take us to a super bowl, but being in "protocol" for 18 days and missing a crucial game will earn you whispers of being soft. Especially when the hit u took wasn't even a hit to the head by the defense but a whiplash.
Except CJ got a concussion when he was scrambling, had nothing to do with o-line (unless your argument was if he had a solid o-line, he wouldn't have had to scramble at all on that play)

Are you suggesting some sort of conspiracy? Come on... Whatever you or I may have seen from our couches doesn't really matter. Allen very obviously did not have a concussion & was cleared to return. And how much time *any* player misses after getting hurt is never quantifiable - there's no rulebook with injuries. Each one is unique. Just look at Joe Mixon.
We're not criticizing CJ because we're homers but because we're decent human beings with at least double-digit IQs. And it's becoming abundantly clear you don't belong to either group.
My argument is that a poor Oline puts CJ at further risk of future concussions. And based on this latest concussion, I think it's safe to assume any future ones will likely not be minor for CJ. These things tend to get worse with the cumulative damage. I wasn't making any comment on what caused this past concussion. I'm aware it wasn't the Oline's fault.
