DFS is not a guard, so comparing him to Okogie isn’t really necessary. If Tari misses significant time before the all-star break he might be traded, hopefully for a journeyman backup guard and a good 26 pick which is a strong draft. Okogie might get 10m or so to stay and that would be a bargain in my opinion. I love Tari, but he has to stay on the floor.
He may not be a guard but if he can guard guards and hit the three at a high rate that's close enough for me.
I don’t think he can guard guards, especially coming off injury. He is, however, a perfect Tari replacement. There is a good chance we can’t re-sign Tari next year so I think the odds are 60-40 that he is traded.
Yeah, DFS will compete minutes with Bari and Tari, not Okogie. That's why we aren't missing him that much. With Tari down, we need him now.
There is a lot of overlap between lineups that have 4 Rockets and then one of JSJ, Tari, and Okogie. They are all wings. Okogie favors defending smaller players than Tari and JSJ, but there is definite overlap (i.e., they are competing with each other for minutes). Personally, I think Okogie may fit more as an SF than an SG, a position that JSJ and Tari play a lot, but Okogie is playing SG out of need. If someone else was starting at SG, Okogie may get more run at SF.
