Cam Whitmore traded to Wizards for 2 2nd round picks

For some reason DD keeps getting really attached to these low basketball IQ / low character guys like Christian Wood, KPJ, and now Cam. I kinda get it, all three of these guys have/had a lot of raw talent, but at the same time once it becomes obvious a guy is a f***ing idiot, it's time to let go

...especially when they're no longer playing for the Houston Rockets!

 

I understand that he’s young, but when you are barely hanging on in the NBA, this is not visual you should leave anyone with.

WTF are you talking about - I am fine liking the talents of individual players and seeing where they go, I think Cam will get it together and be a good NBA player, maybe even great.

But that has nothing to do with cheering for the Rockets......

My biggest beef over Cam is we gave him away when we didn't have to. Same with KPJ should have let the courts handle it then decide, character is a strange thing, most people at 21, aren't really high character folks especially if they come from tough upbringings, many of them become great players as they mature, who doesn't like an underdog story....certainly I do.

Not sure why some of you are so obsessed with what I think, I certainly don't care what you think or who you root for.....other than the Rockets,....it's like lost puppies begging for attention, sorta sad, really......just chillax and enjoy a great show this year......

Some people get really hooked on problem people and the hopes that they can overcome what they see as their emotional or mental disabilities and reach a potential they see for them. It's easy to forget that it really all boils down to attitude, determination and the ability to learn. Usually these guys are lacking all 3.

I'm all for watching someone overcome their challenges and rise to "the occasion" a la Rocky but most people don't have the humility of Rocky which is why they fail. Arrogance is what these people can't get over and that's why they struggle so much.

 

Is that why I like Reed, Amen and Tari so much too?

I was speaking in generalities. I have no idea why you like those guys all that much and was just making a general statement as to why some people do. I actually check on Cam's game to see if Stone and Udoka made the right decision or not. So far, I think they did but the future is wide open and anything can happen with his career. After this season though I probably won't care much.

I will say I am glad they prioritized the team and the culture over what Cam wanted and I think the product this year shows.

 

I'll definitely give you credit for being a Reed fan when a lot of us weren't there yet! I haven't seen you talk that much about Amen, honestly? I believe that you have liked him but he doesn't feel like one of "your guys" from the posts I've seen.

Tari, I feel like kind of fits all this to the T. He's totally an idiot, but his idiocy is channeled in the right directions to still be a very good, if not great, basketball player, ala Dennis Rodman.

Anyway, I hope you don't take all of us too seriously. It's just kind of funny because your takes are very specific. I guess I don't feel like you only like dumbasses, more like you only see the talent and have this big blind spot when it comes to character/intelligence. Feels like it causes you to root really hard for the guys whose flaws are extremely obvious, but happen to exist within your blind spot.

But who cares...honestly......just be yourself....I like Cam, think he has a high ceiling and is misunderstood, I think he might even be on the spectrum - he seems a little off personality wise, and sometimes a little crazy is a great thing.
