Tari needs to chase the $$. The NBA will squeeze as many games out of Wemby as they can, beyond the point where he’s physically able. See Ralph Sampson and Yao Ming.
My feeling was a bench role player type can miss 20 games a year and teams will forgive it and just pay them less. If you're trying to contend, you can't do it with your best player missing 25% of the games. I think that puts more pressure on Victor which will lead to taking more risks getting back on the court. That will shorten his career. Tari also just bad luck, wemby is freakish body type... We know that body ain't going to change, maybe Tari's luck though.
The Rockets made the right decision not to extend him, but they made a poor decision on signing another guy made of the same glass.
