If you thought Reed’s defense was pretty good this game you should never comment on defense again. Just do like so many others on this forum and only watch the box scores and one side of the ball. Reed could win sixth man of the year. Good benches are important and right now we only have one ball handler that is worth a crap coming off the bench. I do think Reed might look better in man than zone, but Ime shows no inclination to abandon it. In the Portland game he abandoned it and we played a near perfect game. He goes back to it vs. Orlando and we almost lost to a far inferior team.
The crazy thing is that if Reed doesn't trip Bane, we lose this game. The Magic had a 3 on 1 fast break, I think the ref made a mistake by calling it immediately, he should have waited until after the fast break was converted. Oh well!
Ref can't wait. It was either a foul at that moment or it wasn't. Bane made both free throws, so not calling it would not have given the Magic more points.
This post is... just... what? Firstly, that's not how fouls work. The refs made the correct call by the rules of the game. Secondly, Bane made both free throws, AND Orlando got the ball back, so they got absolutely zero disadvantage on the play from the foul being called. And finally... dude, there were nearly ten minutes left in the fourth quarter. There is absolutely no way you can be confident how that play going slightly differently would have impacted the outcome of the game.
I think this is an oversimplification of what happened in both games. Also, I think it's pretty hard to argue that defense was our problem last night... In fact, that was the least amount of points the Rockets have given up in regulation all season, and they held Orlando to a pretty miserable shooting night, too. Problem was we couldn't score. That's where Reed was so valuable last night.
I stand corrected. I thought it was a technical with 1 free throw. It doesn't seem like you're trying to correct my mistake, seems like you're trying to pile on the smallest mistake. The poster before you was able to correct me without being condescending. And lastly, are you really going to use the Butterfly Effect argument for your last sentence? So if a poster says that if the "Rockets had just hit 5 of those 27 missed 3's in 2018, we would have won the game", you were in a thread playing Butterfly Effect police? I expect you to be consistent. From now on every time a poster says if we had hit our free throws we would have won, you are going to remind them of Ashton Kutcher, right?
