Low key think it was Jabari that was annoyed about Jalen hero ball last year. His comments this year about "unselfish play" and Jalen's parting comments about people on the team wanting him gone seem to line up.
makes sense for me given, two players one a back court guy and another a front court guy lets say they both have similar 3 pt efficiency, I'd rather have the front court guy take majority of threes because they pull a big/paint defender to the perimeter and open up the paint for they're teammates also a back court guy who is mediocre or below average in shooting 3s can best help the team by driving and kiking out the ball to three point shooters than just sitting on the three point line jacking up threes
Sick of Jabari. It's like he plays well and the next game it's like he's not out there. Cut him, trade him, whatever... I'm done.
We blow out the Mavs today with Bari. He’s our fourth most important player and there’s a steep dropoff after him.
For those who think Bari isn’t critical to our offense. There’s a reason are offense was way less effective without him.
Bump for a terrific game from my boy Bari. 22 in only 27 minutes, 4-7 from 3. The glue of the Rockets.
Guessin' y'all would have far preferred Banchero, who would have ran around, scored an inefficient 20ish points, and we would have lost? Banchero sucks, the Magic are better without him, and the Magic would be much better with Bari in their lineup instead of Banchero.
I don’t care about the where he wa selected. He’s solid when he knows his role. Hes not bonafide scorer you can jsut throw it down to and ask him to go to work. That’s ok. I jsut need Jabari to keep laying good team defense and moving around that perimeter to the open spot and keep shooting the opening three. I’d be happy if he took 8 3’s a game and less midrange, and less dribbling.
Sometimes I wish supporting scorers on great teams could get a chance to spend time with lesser teams and consistently get 15-20 shots just to show the difference. I'm sure he would "look" more like the 3rd overall pick if he were averaging 20-9 on a fringe playoff team instead of 15-6 on an elite rebounding title contender.
Banchero kinda gives me jumbo Trae Young vibes. Or like how Vince Young was in the NFL. He's not as surgical as I thought he would be in the league. More of a "im gonna do this and figure it out when I get there". Bad part for the Magic is that he's their only real superstar talent.
It just takes them more time, both him and Franz I think would take beyond 25, 26.....but it was worth the hassle.... Today you are happy with a 1B.......1As are really rare...... The Pistons won a Chip without a 1A and arguably really minor stars......
If I'm a GM building a team, I'm taking Franz over Banchero every time. Franz is just so much easier to build around. Banchero is one of the hardest 1a prototypes. Inefficient, ball dominant, poor 3 point shooter, mediocre defense, etc. I also think it was a terrible idea to trade for Bane - if Banchero and Franz are your 1a and 1b, then build a deep team with defenders and shooters. Don't trade all your assets for another guy who needs the ball. This is exactly why I love Bari. People also focus on stars, but putting the right guys around stars is critical. The Aaron Gordons, Derrick Whites, Khris Middletons, etc. Guys who raise the team's floor and the stars' ceilings while the stars raise the team's ceiling. That's why we would be worse if you replaced Bari with Banchero on our team, and the Magic would be better if they replaced Banchero with Bari, even though if you ranked all players in the NBA, Banchero would be much higher than Bari.
I see JSJ as a player who performs better in a supporting role on a contender than as an on-ball player for a bad or average team. Sure, his PPG would go up with more opportunities, but his scoring efficiency would stink (not even great right now).
Yeah, the problem with the Banchero type player is that they can only play the 1a role but they are not good enough to lead a team to contention unless you have a whole ton of elite role talent on the roster.
The MPJ is such a good example of this. For years, he was considered a "role player" on the Nuggets because he was the 3rd/4th option on a contender. However, put him on a bad team, all of a sudden he's averaging 24/8/3 on a .6 TS%. I'm sure Bari could put up big numbers on a bad team. But he's really good in his role on a contender, and that's a great thing...not to mention it will likely make him hundreds of millions of dollars.
