Reed looks like a very strong candidate for the MIP Award.

He's being very productive right now, and he's doing it primarily with the most basic of offense.

His pull up middie looks like velvet and he's barely using it. He hasn't developed any go to moves around the rim, he isn't attempting to draw fouls and the team isn't really running many plays to free him up specifically.

There's just so much meat on the bone for him as a potential scorer. He may never develop those tools, but I'll damned if the prospect of it isnt sexy to think about.

I wouldn’t go that far that it literally would cripple the future. However I do think it shows how incredibly important it is for this team to have perimeter shooting threats and how much of a plus is when perimeter playmaking is added.

Even when I was continuing to be down on Reed I was still saying that he shouldn’t be traded and should still be playing because the Rockets desperately need guards who can dribble the ball a little bit and shoot 3’s.

Also- all of this is happening because of Durant still being freaking awesome. Having a true superstar still in their prime just makes everything click when you have pieces around that do the supporting things they need to do.

People really need to sit back and enjoy what we are getting while it lasts. If we can get him to stay healthy two full seasons with this group continuing to improve it’ll be a lot of fun and might be something we don’t get again for decades. KD is that special of a talent.

You make a really convincing argument, and I think you're absolutely right that Nash's percentages are better (and will continue to separate themselves from Curry's as he ages). But I do think that volume is important too, and regardless if it was era or playstyle, Nash never shot with the volume that Curry did. And Curry shot and made some INCREDIBLY difficult shots that I don't think Nash would even attempt because he wouldn't consider them good shots. Regardless, they're both very impressive shooters and both aren't Rockets so **** 'em both

This NBA cup Portland game (11/14) may have been Sheppard's most complete effort to date. Defensively, he wasn't a target, with seven deflections and 4 steals. He chipped in on the glass, had zero TOs (Amen too), made some good passes (3 assists), and stretched the zone with the threat of his shooting. A +17 in (+ -) with a defensive rating of 109.6 is what we need out of the PG position.

I think this is Sheppard's steady new normal. He'll have flashier games, but this is the baseline. Happy for him.

Felt like the offense didn’t quite flow right until Reed came in. It also really helps that his steals and deflections turn into easy buckets.

By year end it will be obvious he needs to start next season. Perfectly fine this year with the off the bench spark plug role.

In hindsight it’s hilarious how some were pushing for Donovan Clingan. I at least get the Castle noise but Clingan stans are baffling.

Consider if the Rockets had gone for either Clingan or Castle, it would mean Reed Sheppard and Wemby absolutely killing us for a decade.

You can feel the energy someone like sheppard brings to a crowd. Whenever he shoots the ball you can feel how everyone is about ready to erupt. It's what made the warriors so annoying to play against, whenever curry or thompson shot it, everyone was ready to go crazy.

Reed has that same vibe about him

I've been wanting that on the Rockets for years. I thought Jabari would give us a little more of that but Jabari is still doing good just not what you're talking about. Reed and KD gives us that. Just having one or two guys having that effect on the crowd brings an sports organization to a different level... especially during playoff time.

Saying all that, I absolutely hate Buddy Hield...

I've been waiting for a great shooter since the days of Steve Harris, Doug Lee, Conner Henry, Craig Ehlo, etc. and then they go and finally drop KD and maybe Reed on us, combined with the fact the entire team is shooting bananas from 3 point range. We're first in 3 point shooting and have about 5 dudes getting legit minutes shooting over 40% from 3 and 1 hovering around 36%. I know it can't last, but still...

After the draft I though he would be the outside shooter Hakeem (or was he still Akeem then?) desperately needed

    Oops.
