And one of those 3 point misses was a grenade he launched at the end of a shot clock (and it still almost went in). So really, 4/5 on actual 3-point shots which is crazy. But literally not as good as Scola though...
Yeah I love Scola but Alpi is better than Scola pretty clearly. He doesn't have nearly as good as the ice cream man finger roll though.
He might cool down a bit as the season goes on and defenses start to respect his shot more and more but I think as long as he keeps shooting them without hesitation he will remain at a decent percentage. Actually if they start to respect him more it could even help him. I think being left open is more irritating to him and makes him more insecure.
If they commit to stopping the 3 then he will drive and they will either double and leave someone he will pass to open or if it’s single coverage he will just go to the basket and score
Teams pick their poison and play defense accordingly. If they double-team, KD and Reed get the job done; if they don't, Alperen. If they keep a tight grip on the basket, Alperen shoots from distance; if they defend close, Alperen flies by with his speed. I wonder which big man can stop Alperen in a one-on-one situation.
I think Draymond is his best defender because Alpi cannot back him down or spin around him easily. This is where hitting the jumper comes in.
We will see him Sunday. Once Sengun makes Wendell unplayable, they'll bring in Isaac who has been collecting dnps and averaging about 7 minutes a game all year lol. I find those players annoying. Adebayo and Draymond use every trick in the WWF book, Isaac just puts his arms out and collects steals. Hate that guy. We should trade for him.
Going 4 for 6 from three the game after going 2 for 3 is exciting. Imagine if the 3P shooting is for real. It won't land at 45% but even 35% on four shots a game would absolutely transform the way opposing defenses play against him.
Western Media: "Sengun says you're like a brother to him. What about his personality allowed you to mesh?" Tiago: "His willingness to learn and to be coachable. I could always be honest with him. (retells the pastries tweet)" Students of the game don't fail.
But but… progress is not linear. Sengun has already peaked and he won’t be taller or athletic. He has limitations. Loool! actually for Sengun progress is better than linear! He improves on things nobody expects him to.
Some people thought people like me and @AroundTheWorld were nuts in the beginning of this thread when we said his ceiling could be Joker like. His stats are almost a carbon copy of Jokers at the same age an Alpi is still getting better every year. He may never reach Joker but he will be dang close.
