True, but overall this isn't an issue for me. The DT's that get the best of Linderbaum are few and far between. He's an all pro level player and a leader of the Ravens OL. The communication issues on the Texans OL would be solved by signing Linderbaum in FA. Add a draft pick like Ioane to go with Linderbaum and Ersery along with Ingram then draft a RT (Let Howard walk to save money) and this OL would be on par with the best OL in the NFL. You can never go wrong adding an under 30 all pro level player at any position. Linderbaum will probably be re-signed by the Ravens.

They have the best defense in the NFL. Unless an absolute stud falls to the 2nd rd, spending picks on the defense is a luxury the Texans org cant afford IMHO. The main reason why this is, they've gotta give CJ all of the resources possible to find out if he's the guy or not.

What you are saying is totally understandable but I think its shortsighted. The Defense is going to lose guys when we have to start paying the going rate for WAJ and CJ. I dont think we will see Hunter or Al Shair on this team after next season and so I want to go ahead and start preparing for a transition to a dominant D without those guys.

It’s the same way you have a stud WR you paid, a decent second you drafted on a rookie deal, you still draft one in a year or two, to manage the cap process in terms of do you trade, resign or let go.

What’s your thoughts on resigning CJ?

He’s not a bad QB, he’s shown he can be a stud QB in his first season. The throws are immaculate, especially along the boundary line. Just waiting for him to take that next step - unclear if it’s him or the offensive line.

Draft is a crapshoot. I would sign CJ if it’s to a team/cap friendly deal but not max max.

Finding out if CJ is the guy isn't shortsighted IMHO. Gotta find out if he's the future.

He’s fine in Pass Protection but there is a reason why Alabama is bad at running the ball this year.

You'd think a human that large would excel at run blocking

Jeremiah Love is ridiculous, but I don't see any way he's available where the Texans draft.

He likely will be, but I’d bet they aren’t in a position to take a RB in round 1.

Saw him compare himself to Gibbs’ game yesterday. Up til now I’d compare him to fellow ND RB Ricky Watters. I see him going to a team in the 20s, likely to a team where people go “dang, now they also got him?”

I suspect his backfield mate, Jadarian Price, will likely come out and might be the perfect cost for the Texans. However, we also paid a future 3rd for Woody last year. Sigh.

Investing actual money on a good center in FA, plus all the good picks they have, Nick is going to be in the position to maneuver up and down like he always does. He has taken a RB in the 1st in his previous life.

Using the Pats, they drafted Tackle first then went with their RB, many wanted the Texans to take, followed by a receiver, then Wilson who turned out to be the starter.

I'm pretty high on Price for a consolation prize for not getting Love.

    Nick's 'operation' take 1:

21st pick traded to the Raiders. Raiders get their qb. Texans get 37th, 70th and next year's 3rd.

Via Washington's 2nd round pick Texans select- Isiah World.

With the Raiders 2nd round pick Texans select- Dillon Thiennaman after cross refrecing with World in the interrogation room.

With their own 2nd round pick Texans select- Whit Weeks.

With the Raiders 3rd rounder- Jake Slaughter

With their own 3rd round pick- Jadarian Price

With Washington's 4th rounder- Eli Stowers or best TE

BDN referenced the Oregon program when talking about 6'8 giant Tackles. The original question was musing about Trent Brown's height.
Could be a big nothing nachos or BDN slipped.

While OL remains biggest need I want to continue to stock the defense mainly because I just have more confidence in this staffs ability scout defense. The defense is really strong on the edges but could be better up the middle:

    1. OL - Spencer Fano/Francis Mauigoa
    2. LB & DT - Sonny Styles/CJ Allen/Anthony Hill Jr., Christen Miller, A’Mauri Washington, Kayden McDonald
    3. IOL
Rest of draft RB, S, IOL again, TE, edge

Styles is a MONSTER! I think he's 6'6, 240, and runs like a gazelle. At any given time he's the fastest player on the field. His PFF pass coverage grade is very high. I like TooToo but Styles is on a whole other level and the days of tight ends and backs blowing by our LB on routes would become history.

I agree with the sentiment shared here by some that Tytus Howard should be our right-tackle and that we should focus on the IOL after Round 1.

Fred Warner 2.0. I’m all for letting Tytus walk. Dude has fleeced us with his play relative to his contract. I’m not buyin

100% this. Except I want Proctor in the first. If Styles/Allen/Hill are gone Im double dipping DT in the second and targeting LB later (Jake Golday, Taurean York, Whit Weeks in the 3rd or 4th and then Isaiah Glasker or Sammy Omosigho later in the 5th). I really think this draft needs to produce eventual replacements for Howard and Al Shaair in addition to adding some dudes to the DL and IOL.
