I used to see him and even interact with him in San Francisco, when he wasn't in a campaign cycle, and he always had stacks of homework under his arm and made time for people with real talk. It's called cognitive bias. As a far left san Franciscan, you view the world through blinders that Gavin panders to. He has no conviction, identity or policies and goes along with DEIing the entire state, allowing it to nearly burn down. He only spoke out on men in women's sports when the polls told him it was safe to do so. The film industry has been decimated as overregulation and arrogance have led to productions shifting elsewhere. This arrogance was noted by Musk when he moved incorporation to Texas, and others followed. His policy isn't leading, it's gathering focus group info and telling far lefties what they want to hear. This results in no vision or ability to govern, but allows him to maintain power. The state itself is allowed to view society through an elitist, luxury lens due to it's wildly profitable tech sector (highest revenue and profit in the world) that settled there due to it's weather. This works perfectly for the democrats as they just want a puppet to prop up who isn't a massive loser in terms of optics -- he might be able to get the moderate vote with his whiteness, not anti Trump nonsense. The model they are shifting to is finding a Trudeau esque puppet to implement open border, defund police, death to America policies and he is the stooge to do it. It will ultimately rest on whether Trump's economic policies create better opportunities at the end of his 4 year term as Vance isn't that great of a candidate, not the fantasies of facism and whatever other gimmicks the left is trying to use now.
