Ideally for this season, I'm hoping he can be one part JJ Barea and one part Matt Maloney, but better than both.
It's very obvious as Cocaine Curry is getting more consistent minutes he is developing more confidence in his shot and we are starting to see him shoot high quality shots. I am confident he is going to be very consistent from 3 and we start to look to develop plays to get him free. His defence is still a huge issue though and he still gambles a lot. What's his ceiling? not sure but i know he will be a very lethal 3 point shooter and he is going to create so much spacing for the rockets moving forward. His trajectory is going to get higher and higher and i'd rather have him than JG. Go Reed!
Dude Mark Price was a STUD on the court. And Price’s ball handling and floor game was pretty damn good my friend. If Reed becomes Mark Price, just give Houston the trophy now.
All I see are someone putting limitations on a 21 year old kid. Imagine if people gave up on Stockton, Nash, etc in year 2. Or placed limitations on what there career arc would be. These guys were averaging 7 and 9 points there second year. Nash 3 assist in 21 minutes. Shush.
Hehe no man there's no limitation in ceiling, just in style. Magic and Harden can average the same assists but they're not alike and neither can emulate the other. That's just life. Do what you're best at, don't try to be someone else.
From Espn's real or not real article The Houston Rockets don't miss Fred VanVleet's offense Playing without a traditional point guard after starter Fred VanVleet suffered a season-ending ACL tear before training camp, the Rockets nonetheless boast the NBA's best offensive rating at 121.7 points per 100 possessions, nearly seven more than they averaged last season while finishing second in the West. Going back to weighted career 3-point percentage, Houston has outperformed this mark by more than any team in the league. The Rockets' shooters have a weighted career mark of 34%, third lowest in the NBA. Yet Houston's 43% 3-point shooting is easily tops. Verdict: Largely not real Encouragingly, the Rockets aren't beating their overall shot quality by nearly as much as Chicago. Inside the arc, Houston has probably been unlucky in the early going. Amen Thompson's 2-point percentage is down from 60% to 53%, while Kevin Durant is hitting just 52% of his 2s after hitting 57% a year ago. Beyond that, the Rockets don't need to shoot well to succeed on offense. They again lead the NBA by securing 37% of available offensive rebounds, with no other team north of 33%. Adding Durant has helped Houston secure the NBA's fourth-best free throw rate. So even without VanVleet, they look like an improved offense this season, albeit not to the degree we've seen thus far.
lol, no longer see "show ignored content" at the bottom of the page meaning that idiot troll rololian or however you spell his name has been shut completely up. I am sure he will come out of hiding the next time Reed has a less than stellar game. He will be like rocketschamp was with Alpi before he got banned.
I think it's tempting to take Reed's shooting numbers with a grain of salt given that it's only been 9 games. But if you look at all of his shooting since late last season you can see that his current numbers (46% FG, 48% 3PT) do not appear to be major outliers. Starting to look like we might finally have a legitimate 40-45% high volume three point shooter on this team. We haven't had one since Luther Head and that was for a single season nearly 20 years ago.
Not to mention, and this isn’t scientific… Reed’s shot is just so pretty. No wasted motion, high release point, quick trigger, every made is seemingly a swish. I do think there is something to the eye test when it comes to mechanical improvements in 3 point shots. It’s why I also think Sengun’s 3 point shooting improvement is real - his shot just looks so much better than in prior years.
Nah all I did was say (not to you) that TJ McConnell was a GOOD COMPARISON because he's a dominant offensive player off the bench who more than makes up for his size. This is a good thing to be. You figured you could get a cheap win & jumped on in & presumed it was just some interchangeable white guy bullshit - - you were wrong, I said it because he's statistically elite on offense, a fact that you appear to have not known. Fair enough. I listen to Zach Lowe when I walk the dog and I remembered this fact. Doesn't make me special. Anyway I'd say that's exactly what happened to a .667 degree of likelihood
Ryan Anderson shot 40% on seven 3PA/G in 16-17. Also only for a single season and he sucked at everything else.
Okay…how is Ryan Anderson’s shooting percentage when he was 28 years old at all relevant when looking at a 21 year old prospect?
Team's are going to game plan for him now. They would take their risks before but we're going to run into a team (probably Portland) that's going to sell out to be aggressive with him. That's the next step for him. He really needs to attach himself to Durant, Sengun, Amen and Jabari to have all of their sets ironed out to a crisp. As Frank mentioned in his last video, having the Sengun/KD 2-man game with Amen in the dunker spot and Reed/Jabari in the corners is about as unfair of a situation as you can get in the NBA.
Its not. Reed has always been a good shooter even in college. This comparison is laughable. He literally only got drafted in the top 5 because many considered him a generational shooting talent. Why else would you draft a tiny 6.1 guard in todays nba
