He's clearly on his way to being a top 10 player whilst not quite being that full superstar just yet. If that PPG jumps up to 26-30 range on decent efficiency then he's there.
Sengun does not have top 10 stats but he really impacts the game like one, which is probably the real criteria. It is hard to measure impact so one might not agree to this. Sengun is also playing 37 minutes a game up 5.5 minutes from last year. I am wondering how long he can sustain his performance with this load. In terms of efficiency, I believe he will end up improving both ft % and 3 pt % but lower than the current levels, particularly the 3 pt shot.
Joker Shai Gumby Fat Luka Ant Giannis Cade Maxey Brunson? Mitchell? Feel confident about teams taking those first 6 (and kinda 8) Achilles Tatum/Haliburton Old heads Curry/Durant And then a whole bunch of guys you can debate. “Would you rather…” T-19th PPG (22.9) T-9th RPG (9.9) T-9th APG (7.3) T-24th PER (21.3) T-10th WS (1.3) T-11th BPM (5.0) T-9th VORP (0.6)
Now use the putting yourself in the shoes of a GM starting a franchise template. They ain't taking Mitchell. They ain't taking Cade. Some ain't taking Giannis. Some ain't taking Brunson. I'll never for the life of me understand this Ant infatuation as a tier A superstar.
Ant took his team to the conference finals as by far their best player at 22 and 23 years old, not something you see too often. Also multiple top 10 mvp finishes at 22/23. He’s incredible. I bet in a gm poll almost all would take cade over sengun (not saying which opinion in “correct”, just my opinion.
if the poll is taken today yeah most will choose Cade over Alpi. Let revisit this at the all star break
Assuming the goal is to win a ring and all are healthy right? Joker Giannis Tatum Luka Haliburton Shai Cade Maxey Any Brunson JW Brunson Mitchell Wemby Curry
Put some respect on his name. He had 4 PTS and 4 rebs for Partizan yesterday against Monaco. Btw Daniel "true professional" Theiss plays for Monaco and he had 3 PTS 4 Rebs.
You've got two Brunsons. And I don't think anyone would trade a 37 yo Steph for Alpi. Maxey and Mitchell are also a no-go. Brunson and Cade are on the bubble, but I guess it comes down to which position you value more.
If I’m a GM, there’s no way I’m trading a 23 yr old Sengun for a bunch of those guys (Haliburton, JDub, Mitchell, Brunson, Curry, etc.)
What load? 37 minutes a game is on par with the top players you project Sengun to be. If hes really THAT guy his MPG should be sustainable
Sengun's 3PT shot puts him in an entirely new tier as far as offensive talent now. When you have to do most of your damage near the rim, you're susceptible to certain defenders who have length and strength. Now that he can operate at the 3PT line those few lumbering people who gave him problems can be brought out to the perimeter and taken care of. Previously those guys would just drop back and dare him to shoot. Further, it changes everything for Durant and Amen who need to give us a ton of drives to the basket this season. Just having the option of occasionally drawing the opponent's rim protector out to the 3PT line is priceless. Makes things so much easier. Amen especially has lots of space to attack as the primary playmaker. Finally the double big lineup becomes more effective. Can't overstate the importance of this development.
