the eXtreme Football League will kick off February 2000 , I have heard Dick Butkus will be coaching a team . Some great college players are looking at starting jobs in the XFL instead of third string jobs in the NFL , But will the XFL appeal to fans ? I dont know it looks promising , www.xfl.com says that NBC wil be covering some games , I would check it out being the football fan that I am . But is this The USFL's Ghost returned from the dead ? ------------------ Will Work for Clutch 101 Book
I'd say it had no chance at success. At least, I won't be watching. ------------------ Rockets Draft Obligations Summary http://www.gaffordstudios.cjb.net/
I may be in the minority, but I think Vince McMahon is a smart businessman who will make it succeed. TO what level I don't know. They have a cross-advertising opportunities with all the WWF programs plus I heard somewhere that Stone Cold Steve Austin may be getting his own prime-time TV show, like Miami Vice or something. Team that up with NBC being involved and I thin it has a chance. ------------------
If Gladiators can make it, anything can. It will find a market. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
Vince has the midas touch and if it is like the NFL(to a certain extent)without all the rules and they do not fix the outcome(like wrestling) it will be fine. ------------------ Houston Rockets Forever!! In Rudy We Trust
Vince McMahon may be an alright business man, but he is a complete jackass and obviously puts money ahead of any moral or socail integrity. WWF is such a piece oh crap that it sickens me that it is even on televison. Has anyone else noticed the physical change in VInce McMahon over the last half decade or so. I mean, he used to be this little puny scrawny little guy. All of a sudden the guy has these huge muscles. IT sure is odd that the WWF will not fight in Oregon (I think that is it...maybe Washington). Why you ask. ORegon is one of the few states where their sports association monitors the WWF (instead of something like an entertainment group) and checks for the use of such drugs as steroids, etc, etc. SO McMahon just wont take the WWF to that sate. What a joke. On a side note, I do respect people like ManKind. I saw a lifestory type piece on this guy and he is for real. He worked his way to the WWF by doing actually wrestling, such as in JApan where they fight with barb wires for the ropes and actual pins covering th floor. He is hard core and has taken a mighty beating over his life. As far as XFL goes, no way Im gona watch that crap. As already mentioned, it will most likley be 3rd stringers. Why would I want to watch 3rd stringers. MAYBE football junkies will watch it, but I certainly wont. Why would I watch 3rd stringers play football when I can just watch the basketball and hockey season instead ------------------ When I die I want to go peacefully like my grandfather. Not screaming like the passengers in the back seat!
I hate wrestling and the xfl, I hope the xfl crashes and burns. ------------------ please venture to atheistalliance and rocketsonline I AM SPARTACUS
Whatever else you must say about Vince McMahon(and most of it's probably true), he's a genius at marketing. I think that the XFL will be a success, especially if McMahon can convince other former NFL figures like Butkus to get involved with his league to give it credibility. Of courses the stars will be second rate stars, but they know this is probably their only chance at professional football, unless they want to live in Europe, and that alone makes me interested. ------------------ Who would've thought Don Nelson would pass up Olumide Oyedeji not once, not twice, but thrice?
For those who don't recall, there is a form of wrestling that is an actual legitimate sport. The outcomes are not fixed, they don't do body-slams or hit each other with chairs or have barbed wire for ropes. Actual wrestling would be something of that nature: Greek or Sumo, not just where people actually get hurt. ------------------ Rockets Draft Obligations Summary http://www.gaffordstudios.cjb.net/
Saying he is a genius at marketing goes a little too far for me. Undoubtedly a good business man, he was simply in the right place at the right time. I cold have done the same thing with WWF; he basically just followed a formula used by Wrestling people about 10 years ago when Hulk Hogan and Randy MAcho Man Savage and all the others had wrestling as a real popular sport. Anybody could have done that. ------------------ When I die I want to go peacefully like my grandfather. Not screaming like the passengers in the back seat!
