Their next two games are home v Jags; at Tennessee. 5-5 is very much on the table. Even if Mills is the QB. After that: Bills, Colts, Chiefs. I’m not making excuses & I’m certainly not burying my head in the sand. 5-8 is far more likely than 8-5. But, also… Rams, 6-2: lost by 5 Bucs, 6-2: lost by 1 Seahawks, 6-2: lost by 8 Broncos, 7-2: lost by 3 They have four losses by a combined 17 points to teams that are 25-8. They can certainly *compete* with good teams. As frustrating as all of it is, Ryans isn’t wrong about where they are: a tackle here, a block there, a healthy Stroud yesterday……. The Seattle game aside, the overall offensive operation *has* looked better. I’m not convinced the season is over.
Except they consistently NOT do those things. If you keep making bad mistakes that cost you games, it shows that you can't correct it. That's what they are, incapable of making enough winning plays
If I'm Cal I'm not making changes to the GM or HC/staff jobs. I may look at whoever is scouting the OL and make a change. If it's me I draft 2 OL with Rd1/2 picks and sign a FA OL.
Yeah, I don’t feel very confident they can make the playoffs. But buried deep within a frustrating season, it is absolutely true they’ve gone toe-to-toe with four of the best teams in football. So the idea a young coach and a new offensive line - backed by an elite defense - could figure some things out… it’s certainly not an insane idea. I’m tired of hearing DeMeco spew the same “we’re close” bullshit - but on at least one level, he’s not wrong. I’m not arguing this is a 7-1/6-2 team. But they are a few plays from being exactly that. Also, 3/5 losses are to NFC teams. So in terms of AFC playoff picture, they aren’t (yet) be on the wrong side of too many tiebreakers. And they play *everybody* they need to pass, so, schedule-wise, there’s an obvious path to the postseason.
damn ain't that a kick in nether regions. 17 combined fcking points against solid teams. Defense has done its job for sure.
We are what our record indicates, we have a HELL of a defense, but we skimped on the O Line and it shows, the stats say were "OK", but in reality Vance Joseph made changes in the 2nd half and ended up rushing 2-3..................2 to friggin 3 D Lineman and dropped more into coverage and Mills looked like dog pooh, 5 years in the league and he looked like crap in the 2nd half, 80 yards of offense will get a loss every day and twice on Sunday. We hired an OC with no experience, didn't give him any tools to work with and now were shocked that they suck??? This fall on Nick and Demeco...........stop saying we need to execute better, the quality of the O Line simply won't allow for that, you cant "will" the guys to be better, the Broncos were the bully and we were the kid getting his lunch money stolen, its not a fait fight and one we will lose 10 out of 10 times. It`s a toss up whose D is better, the Broncos or us but its criminal to have this Defense and not put ANY effort into getting better on the O Line. IT IS A MAJOR FAILURE, I want to see Nick gone and the OC gone and hire someone who has EXPERIENCE and OWNS the Offense and hires his own folks. I am afraid this season is toast. hope I am wrong

If they Mixon was on the team they would have 2-3 more wins because he would have scored on those gl situations and nobody would be gripping. Fix the talent and then go forward. How many years in a row do you want to hire OC's?
As many as possible until they prove competent. What do you mean they need one guy just to score TDs at the 1 yd line? How about they actually hire someone who has experience and knows what the hell he's doing...Caley is in over his head.
