A couple seasons ago I said that we were pretty much wasting a roster spot on Boban, and people were upset about bringing up an end of bench player but the reality is we could have used that roster spot to add depth CC is not a bad signing. He actually can play even out of shape. Looks like he got 8 rebounds in 11 mins tonight. Every roster spot should be optimized if possible we are getting use from CC and he is a massive upgrade from Boban.

Over the last 3 games Capela has 21 rebounds in 35 minutes.

Over the last 3 games Adams has 26 rebounds in 57 minutes.

Capela was an absolute steal, and I expect him to fall in love with the game again now that he is on a contender. He will trim up in no time and will outplay Adams some nights while providing vertical spacing and rim protection. Rockets are clearly trying to outrebound opponents and Capela was BPA for that goal.

We can lose our starting PG and not miss a beat, but losing Adams would be catastrophic without Capela.

This footage isn't from long ago.

Capela is starting to get in shape, actually gave good effort today. Reed has a positive plus minus but that is all due to coming in the same time as Capela. Capela did so much in a short span of time.

I don't understand all the shade folks throwing at Capela. He's the 3rd string center. It's not even worth the breath. Some of ya'll expecting him to be an all-star? He's legit but he's never been an all-star. He's making less than Jock and playing better than Jock ever did.

I think some of ya'll need to lower your expectations as you'll enjoy the ride more.

Capela is probably surplus in the playoffs but Adams is probably going to have to start missing games soon especially when you get into the January grind; given that the Rockets have built their whole thing around having 1-2 centers on the floor at all times it makes sense

Small sample size, per-possesion fun. Capela has same offensive rebounding rate as Adams, just 0.3% difference. He's actually the team leader in overall rebound rate.

Different styles. Adams uses strength & awareness, Capela uses vert & effort. Still the thing that Adams is all-world at, Capela is matching (in lighter role)

That's with Capela adding 3 times the block shots rate. Blocked shots doesn't mean great defense. But it's nice to see something that shows "rim protection". (Can throw this out, but so far) Capela currently has a career high in PER :p

Point being, despite the eye test of Capela tired & washed, that his activity is lowkey producing results. He doesn't fit the biggest need, but he is fitting the approach whether as Adams insurance or a trade chip

If you are beating non bball people instead of championship GMs, it says more about him than us fans.

I am sure Jerry Krause faced criticism and he won 6.

    RIP.

I always enjoy comments like this when he has one playoff series appearance. But hey, it's good to have fans.

Block shots isn't good defense? Rejecting a basket that could go in potentially turning it into offense is the epitome of what good defense is lol

Yeah he rebuilt a roster from nothing to something in less than 3 years. Theyre were idiots on this forum who wanted him fired after year 2 without giving him a chance. Look at us now

He looks better each game. If they are going to make a big splash at the trade deadline, Adams might have to be included in the package. Capella is a better defensive rebounder than Adams and a better shot blocker. Capella also has better hands than Adams. The main difference right now is that Adams is in much better shape than Capella and sets screens like an offensive tackle. I’m not in favor of trading either one, but if Reed doesn’t step up (likely) we have to get another Okogie type player for depth. If Amen gets hurt we are screwed no matter what, but the way Reed and Holiday are playing we can’t afford to lose Okogie either. We are after a championship this year and next, but it would be crazy to give all our draft assets away in a trade. We will need to draft some good players to provide depth when the 2nd apron inevitably becomes a problem for us. That makes one of Adams or Capella expendable and Adams has the better contract for salary matching.

I have a soft spot for Capela

I remember when we drafted him and he looked like a stumbling, bumbling, baby deer out there

then Dwight was finally gone and he was gonna be thrust into a full-time starting position…belief in him was low, so there was all this talk of hopefully acquiring Deandre Jordan

those A-Capela segments on the jumbotron were always a hit

the Harden-Capela PnR had Denver and Jokic needing therapy for generational trauma

Players in the NBA have a deep respect for Adams’ superhuman strength and the Rockets brass knows if. Dude is gorilla strong. I wouldn’t say he’s untouchable but it’s close.

Provided that he stays, the season is 82 plus Cup and Playoff games lengthy.......enough time to shine.

I was very critical of the Capela signing @Deuce Rings at the time.

It almost felt like the Rockets did it because they could - he was out there and they figured "why not".

However - the real problem or concern about it for me was that I watched maybe a dozen games Capela played in last season, and it was very clear to me that he wasn't the same player. He wasn't a rim protector to the degree he was in the past, and defensively he was only okay. It did not take a high level of attention to see that Capela was slowing down (nothing alarming about that - as it is normal), and that he just wasn't as useful a player. However - the Rockets signed him to a multi-year commitment. If I could notice the natural decline, there is no excuse for the Rockets not to notice before making that type of commitment. It makes me wonder if this was an impulse signing.

He’s been solid enough, but I am kind of frustrated with how he used to be this lanky alley-oop center that was just running and springy to this fat blob who can barely get off the ground now…he’s not in shape, that’s for sure.
