I come to Clutch Fans as release valve and also to learn from my fellow fans, however, it seems to have become a hotbed for negativity. I understand the need to be critical when things aren't right and the Lord knows I've done my share. With that as a backdrop, I wanted to have a thread where we could talk about ONLY the GOOD STUFF. No criticism or complaining, just the talk about the team/players doing well or things we're happy about. I'll start. Last night's game against the Celtics exceeded my expectations. Our team started fast 37-24 and outscored Boston every quarter! We frustrated their best player--Jaylen Brown and held him to his lowest point total of the season (12) less than 50% of his average. We had 7 guys in double figures and 2 almost had triple doubles (Sengun and Thompson). Durant made 26 points look easy and I love how effortlessly his game fits into our team. As a team, we hit 42/77 FGs (55%) and 19/29 3PT (66%) which are both fantastic numbers, the latter incredible. We're a rebounding machine (53) while sharing the ball at the same time (30 assists). We had 11 blocks to our opponents 2, and Jabari's rim protection was outstanding with 4 blocks by himself. Finally, it was great to get our bench some playing time with Uncle Jeff leading the way with 6 pts on (2/2 3pts). BTW he's shooting 100% on 3/3, small sample size, but dude comes ready to contribute off the bench as a 39 year old! So at 3-2 were tied for 5th in the West. With the Mavs on Monday, I'm hoping for another statement game and for us to keep rolling. Go Rockets!
Games are so boring lately, I've become Barbara Bush, watching games with some fancy yellow pad taking notes.
I LOVE this squad! Esp the endless effort on BOTH ends of the court! It's not about 'cornerstones' and 'role players' - they play as a team! LOVE the culture, LOVE the effort, LOVE what is happening with this team!
2018 vibes are rolling. https://www.espn.com/nba/team/stats/_/name/hou/houston-rockets Team is currently shooting 50.3%FG and 45.4% 3pt OVERALL...wow. DD
I still can't believe the Rockets have Kevin Durant. I'm also shocked how they suddenly leveled up their defense against the Celtics. Looking forward to more pleasant discoveries.
Man, being able to add DFS to this team is very exciting. He has been such a winning player for a while now. I think he will really help out make the lineups even more versatile, make the defense even more cohesive and add another above average 3 point sniper to the mix. I also think DFS returning can reduce KD's minutes.
Our 2 Cs are averaging 32.4 mins, 11.4 ppg, 13.2 reb (7 offensive!), 2 assists, 1 blk, 1.2 steals, ~69% FG, ~85%(!) FT You could spend $20M on a lot worse than that
Reed shooting 44% from 3 to start the year and his assist percentage is way up and turnover percentage slightly down too. Free throw rate is up and his win share per 48 is solid too. When his midrange comes around he will be looking real good.
This Rockets’ team has a high ceiling this season. KD is still elite. Amen is progressing game by game (needs to get that 3 pointer respectable though). Jabari and Tari both look solid. Need to see more on both sides of the ball from Reed. Good vibes overall.
I'm excited to see him incorporated into the rotation as well, but the beauty is were good at this point and he can take his time healing--it's a long season.
Yeah, Sengun is a star in the making, but Adams effort has been exemplary. Capela is still getting his sea legs, but it's a long season and we're going to need all 3 with Ime's love of the double big concept. Nice to have solid depth at this position, with Bari available if needed. Our length is incredible!
I like the fact that Ime changed his mindset and decided to start with Okagie instead of Adams. Maybe there will be games where the big lineup will be a better matchup, but as a default I like what I see with Josh as a starter. I also prefer Adams bringing the energy off the bench. I hope that even after DFS is back, Okagie will remain as a starter, even if his overall minutes will reduced.
