Sheppard is months removed from being allowed to drink a beer.

    Give the kid some time.

When he gets the consistency down, which is something all young players deal with.

    The team becomes LETHAL.

Not true! I vividly remember seeing Giannas when he was first drafted and they played against the Rockets here at Toyota Center. Reason being, I wanted Morey to trade up and draft him.

You could see he was going to be special then but he was thin, very thin! He had skills but couldn't shoot worth a darn, still can't. But he had length, wasn't afraid and he was very athletic. And by the end of the yr he was showing signs of being a player.

    He comes off the bench.

You do understand how per game stats work, right?

Like having a smooth stroke behind the 3pt line? Having some nice penetration and reads?

I was responding to "non factor". You think he had impactful stats?

    10 points
    3 assists
    4 rebounds
    1 steal
    1 block
    4 of 10 shooting

Okogie in 12-17-18 had virtually same line...

I get the eye test though, like watching Amen...

That was about 720 minutes into his nba career... not far off from where Reed is now.

He got more consistent minutes in chunks because they were terrible (7-32) by that game.

10.4 pts on 9 FGAs. While it doesn't look pleasant to the eye, make a lay up or two more and he is averaging around 12.6 pts on 9 FGs.

Which would put him 4th for bench players playing 19-23 minutes right behind Sexton, Coward and Fears. And 5th overall within the 2024 top picks.
That's more than enough for now while he develops.
Noticed I said top picks because this mofo Ajay just came out of nowhere.

I like like that he's not being timid about taking his shots. But only 2 PnR opportunities. He will need screens to take it to the next level. That will come with experience and FVv tutelage

    Ajay just taking Jalen's fgas.

He isn't good at 3 and just ok from 2.

Not a great stat filler otherwise but shows some potential.

Right now he just looks like a shot taker. Definitely he's further along than Reed for now. When Jalen comes back we'll see what sort of production Ajay is limited to.

Interesting that Reed wasnt allowed to play the garbage minutes. He got pulled with Sengun/Amen. Probably the biggest Ime Udoka compliment you can get.

Yep, he was 4/5 from 3, so Ime has already seen what he needed.

Sure, potential to be a rotation player on a good team.

We're not talking 45% from 3 with decent defense potential.

Two of our major problems in last year's Game 7 loss to the Warriors (outside of Buddy Hield's once-in-a-season shooting performance)

    1) Jalen Green's horrible play

    2) Rockets made 6 3-pointers compared to 18 for the Warriors.

Both problems are fixed with Green gone and if Reed plays like last night.

Ajay Mitchell was still a junior in a small college program when he was at Reeds age, not playing in the NBA.

Some of the biggest problems last year's team had are eliminated now that Jalen and Brooks are gone and FVV is injured. You remove 3 of the least efficient scorers in the league and replace them with KD, an Okogie who is playing absolutely out of his mind right now, Jabari back starting, and Reed Sheppard.....and you are going to get a LOT better scoring efficiency.

Reed shooting 44% from 3 in his second season is actually ahead of schedule. Not sure how anyone can be disappointed, but unfortunately there are always haters who expect kids to be Ray Allen as soon as they get consistent minutes.
