After 4 games Rox now have the no 1 offense. We dont need a pg we need more consistent 3 pt and better defense.

We have the combination of great rebounding team, playmaking Sengun and Kevin freaking Durant. We dont need a pg we just need another good 3nD wing hopefully DFS comes back soon.

Lol do you think the league is full of Brooklyn and Raptors (who were without Pöltl)

The PG is for the Playoffs, when things stall..... but a combo guard would do anyways.

Nobody cares about the Regular season with 37 year old Durant.

Unless you sre getting a franchise or high end pg I doubt you can get a pg who can do something when things stall in the playoffs.

Leftover pgs wont move the needle unless you mean they will just replace Reed Brickpard in the rotation.

Of course we don’t need a PG. It is obvious. It was just knee jerk after a couple of close losses without FVV to start the year. We have one of the best offenses in the league, without even being in sync yet. Defense looked better tonight. A lot of those 3’s they hit were contested. Ingram hit several that were very well defended. We are going to give up a lot of uncontested 3’s if we continue to run the zone so much. I think Okogie starting and the return of DFS will lessen the need for it. Just eye test, no stats: the offense looks great with Adam’s, the defense looks bad. I do think that Amen woke up a little on defense this game. People need to realize how much is being put on him. It will take a while to adjust to being a main cog on offense and still be all over the place on defense.

I can tell u living in Portland that the Blazers are thrilled with Jru. I don’t see them trading him this year, especially with the Scoot injury.

Also, Fred effectively has a no-trade clause. The chances of Fred getting dealt while he gets paid to rehab are practically zero.

If we want to ruin any future flexibility without improving our shooting and spacing, then by all means, go after Fox.

The reality is that even if we decide we want to add a point guard at the deadline a guy like Schroeder is probably the best we can hope for. And I wouldn’t want to trade any of our rotation players beyond Capela for that caliber of point guard.

most of the names being discussed in this thread are serious pipe dreams.

I don’t like the defensive intensity this year, but I understand it. They are focused on getting to know each other and making the offense in particular mesh well. And for these last two opponents they showed early in the game they were just going to run away with it - there was no drama or need to ‘lock it down.’ They can ramp up the defense later - the goal for the first half of the season is just to establish chemistry while ensuring we are firmly in the top 6 for the playoffs. I don’t think they need to be all-in on defense to accomplish that, and it seems they agree.

The question will be whether they can still dial it up when needed, but we won’t know that until they decide to try - probably as the playoffs approach.

Good teams will turn up the defensive pressure on us in the playoffs and we'll average 23 turnovers per game with this current roster. We'ill need to obtain a primary ball handler at some point this season or we will lose in the first round again. Alpi is looking more and more like Jokic on offense. The Nuggets succeed because they also have Jamal Murray who can handle the ball and coordinate the offense. We need a reliable guard who can handle and not turn the ball over under playoff pressure.

The best players potentially available during the season are both currently Boston Celtics. Payton Prtichard is on a discount contract and is one of the highest-percentage perimeter shotmakers in the NBA. He is small and not a plus defender but is much better defensively than Reed Sheppard. He would be a huge upgrade over Reed but would require us to include some of our best future draft picks.

The perfect candidate is Derrick White. He has good size and is elite defensively. He can handle and pass and shoots efficiently. Adding Derrick White after December 15th would give us one of the top-2 rosters in the NBA. We'd have to include several rotation players to obtain him plus several of our best picks. We would have to overpay. It would be worth it though. He is a perfect fit for this roster.

Jose Alvarado would be a good discount candidate after December 15th. He's small but he's a warrior on defense and is a vocal leader. ime would love that guy. TJ McConnell would be another guy who could help in the playoffs.

McConnell has been a guy who's been on my mind as well. I mean, the Pacers love him so he wouldn't be just given away. But he's 33, they're winless and likely to tank, and letting Turner go shows that they're playing to win 2 years from now, not just trying to run everything back until Haliburton recovers. If they can get any sort of real future assets for a beloved bench player who's no longer on their timeline, they will consider it.

You ask the Chicago Bulls to rank their PG's. You tell them you want their 4th best PG, their choice. I guess it will be one of the middle 3:

    Giddey
    Tre Jones
    Coby White
    Ayo Dosunmu

    Jevon Carter

They might do Dosunmu or White for Sheppard.

I like Ayo, great defender, can play on or off ball, and improving shooter. Chicago will want a couple of firsts or an young asset for him.

We can't make the trade until December anyways, Scoot will be back then. FVV don't have a 'real no trade', just an implied one. He can't veto trades, all he can do is say he won't sign with that team next year. For Portland it won't matter because they don't want him on their books next year when Damian comes back anyways. Yes Jrue trade is short sited but with Durant at 37, we have a two year window.

Donsunmu is not really a PG, reluctantly yes, he is more SG than Reed Sheppard.

White is miles better than Sheppard and on a better contract than Sheppard, they would be straight up deranged if they did that trade.

Fans would be bombing the United Center.

Yeah, I think whoever is their 2nd and 3rd favorite PG's after Giddey (who can play other positions) would cost 1-2 FRP's.

But whoever is their 4th favorite guy. That's our guy. I hope it's not Tre Jones cause the jumper is shaky, but even that would be fine as long as the price is a late FRP or something like that.

I would give them a good pick or two mediocre picks for Coby White. Elite shooter (high efficiency, one of the highest volumes in the league), good PG skills, net positive defender, switchable. Get him on this team and everything clicks, we will be an elite defense that is extremely difficult to guard on the other end.

    Sengun/Capela
    Jabari/Tari
    Durant/DFS
    White/Okogie
    Amen/Sheppard/(eventually FVV)

I'd take that team in any playoff series.

This team would benefit a lot from a Lou Will type player. Knows his role, can play point when your starting PG is out. Can get buckets and go to the line.

With how FVV's contract is structured, there's no way he's waiving his built-in NTC. He's going to be on this team next year, even if he's terrible post injury. We just need to find a guy who is a good backup PG that can share minutes with Holiday until then. I suggested Nemhard and I'm sure there are plenty of other options out there. Getting Reeves isn't the greatest idea because once Fred comes back, I doubt he'll want to come off the bench.
