The only way that a Tari trade would work for us is that someone pays an exuberant price, considering 1) his on court value and extremely underrated impact 2) the ability for the Rockets to match an offer sheet (relatively cheap option to keep him for reasonable value or S&T him). Any such trade would require the Rockets to send out a few other players because of his salary, and / or the incoming assets to involve picks, which, considering the two teams mentioned are either at the brink of a rebuild or in the midst of a rebuild, it’s only remotely possible imo. Given the payroll situation, and given that the team only can trade a limited number of players until mid December, I would not hold my breath for any such trade to work. I continue to believe that this is just due diligence chatter and due diligence chatter happens all the time.
Agree about the impact of Fred - it doesn't look irreplaceable on the stat sheet but it's felt in the on court performance. He was truly an on court coach. I like Tari and wish him the best but agree that he is the likely odd man out here. This was always going to happen - we were always going to need to consolidate talent to meet need once we determined a prioritization order of our young talent - it was just a question of "who". To me it does seem like Tari has a fairly limited market of teams who can both offer him the role he desires and the pay he is looking for. I feel confident there is a chance he could stay in Houston on a fair deal but really the question is twofold: - does Houston want Tari over the other options on the table ? - will Tari be satisfied with remaining here in a somewhat reduced role? I don't doubt there is a lot of interest in Tari but is it "nice player wish we had him" type interest or "do what you have to do to get this guy on our team" interest because the cap situation doesn't look promising for him on the open market. Side note - If Tari went to Boston his Mom would be over the moon but personally I find Boston to be a rough place for people of color - there is definitely a racist element to that fan base sadly. Regarding SGA - I don't understand why a guy can have a signature move that is literally an offensive foul. He puts his shoulder down, drives a player backwards and then pushes away and rises up to shoot that middy - it's a push off nearly every time - DRIVES ME CRAZY.
Wtf. Keep both guys how is this hard? Jabari just put out 25/5/5 and suddenly its get rid of him? Huh?
I prefer Tari, but I don't want just to give away JSJ either. Basically, Amen, Sengun, Durant, Tari, JSJ, Adams, and Okogie have worked with almost any reasonable combination of those 5 players. I think DFS will join that group. However, I believe the Rockets need Reed or someone with ball skills to get in that group.
