darrell worley - cowboy poet/patriot "have you forgotten" some say this country's just out lookin for a fight after 9/11, man id have to say thats right have you forgotten how it felt that day to see your homeland under fire and her people blown away have you forgotten when those towers fell we have neighbors still inside going thru a living hell and they tell me not to worry 'bout bin laden have you forgotten?
celebrities should keep their mouths shut (unless they write bad country songs about supportin' the president and war in iraq)
every time i hear streisand i'm reminded of McCain's skit on SNL where he was acting as if he was singing her songs on a CD for sale. he closed with: "hey, she's been trying to do my job for years, now!"
Hey, I'm relieved! After I shut the PC down for the night, I lay in bed for a few moments wondering about the irony of defending Streisand, even in the way I did, which wasn't a ringing endorsement. I don't think I have one of her records, unless it's buried deep in my collection, under "miscellaneous" and was inherited. I've just never been a fan, although I certainly recognize her talent. I'm more of a rock and roll, blues, jazz kind of guy... going to dozens and dozens of concerts back in the "Golden Age" will do that to you. It took me forever to "get" Sinatra, which is embarrassing. The man was a genius with his voice, but I couldn't see it for the longest time. I know Streisand is an irritant, and a political gadfly, but the quote that was posted, minus the "reign of witches" BS, rang very true, at least to me. Keep D&D Civil!!
if your calling me douchebag thats one thing, but mister, if you are calling TK a douchebag than we gots problems. when your runnin' down my toby keith, your walkin' on the fightin' side of me.
Note the ellipsis on her quote. Here's what actually was said by Jefferson, pretty much the exact opposite of the message she was trying to convey. http://www.wadsworth.com/history_d/special_features/ext/ap/chapter7/7.1.tj2taylor.html A little patience, and we shall see the reign of witches pass over, their spells dissolved, and the people recovering their true sight, restoring their government to its true principles. It is true, that in the meantime, we are suffering deeply in spirit, and incurring the horrors of a war, and long oppressions of enormous public debt. But who can say what would be the evils of a scission, and when and where they would end? Better keep together as we are, haul off from Europe as soon as we can, and from all attachments to any portions of it; and if they show their power just sufficiently to hoop us together, it will be the happiest situation in which we can exist. If the game runs sometimes against us at home, we must have patience till luck turns, and then we shall have an opportunity of winning back the principles we have lost. For this is a game where principles are the stake.
-I don't care what Barbra's nose looks like. -I don't agree with her politics, nor do I expect to agree with everybody's politics. I don't boycott someone just because I disagree with them. -I don't like her music, which has nothing to do with her politics; the tone of her voice seems thin and nasal to me. That said... The words "suffering", "horrors", and "oppression" seem to be a little melodramatic here. Throughout history and even in today's world, the current situation in our country is nothing compared to what many, many people have had to go through. We still live in relative comfort and peace compared to what most human beings have had. Of course, she's been a celebrity for a long time. Hard to have too much perspective when you're used to living in the lap of luxury.
I'm actually on the same side of Babs on most of the issues. I'm still boycotting everything to do with her because she's a hypocrite, annoying, vain, unfunny, sings horribly annoying songs, and is repulsive to me.
