Wait you mean start another Guard and not 2 Cs, 2PFs and 1 hybrid G/F in a lineup that breaks down for exactly the reasons you'd expect it not to work?

    Extraordinary

Year 3 we will make fetch Amen PG happen I can feel it!

That is what I was annoyingly complaining about this off-season:

forcing Amen - who is already playing 37 mpg, to take up both Dillons defensive responsibilities and Green (and now FVV) offensive creator burden is going to drain the **** out of him.

    And seems like it is!

If Tari really is affected then the blame can be put on Stone. He likely gave him a bullshit deal loaded with conditions and clauses that didn’t guarantee the reported 100 mil. Stone needs to be held accountable if this is true. But I look at the Pacers and they didn’t sign Mathurin either. The difference is their coach and management has empowered him and made him feel wanted. They are starting him now. And he dropped 36. I would let Tari start. Build a great relationship with him. All players are concerned with their market value. That’s the best thing the Rockets can do in this situation is empower Tari. Value him. Rebuild the trust and respect.

I suggested they start him last game. Tari is going to be fine if he can stay healthy. Ime makes a lot of coaching errors, especially trying to make Sengun a PF and starting a decent backup center that should be playing 10-15 mins a game. Okogie should start until we can solve the SG problem. At least our defense will improve.

Stonetitta got high on their own team building supply, threw a hundred twenty million bucks to Jabari SixthMan Junior and were at PF Chang's when FVV went down with no backup plan

Tari can't be this dumb. This is his contract year. Blowing it is self-destruction.

I still trust him over Jabari.

I think the FO continues to display incompetence.

I can understand Tari’s frustration. He probably feels like he has played as well as or outperformed Jabari Smith Jr. Jabari got his long-term financial security with no strings attached, while it seems highly likely the Rockets put contingencies in the offer they gave Eason.

That said, a veteran on this team needs to pull Eason aside privately and let him know checking out and playing poorly on the court isn’t going to increase the contract offers he gets in restricted free agency next summer.

There are rules around this in the CBA - look em up. The most teams can offer in incentives is 15% meaning if reporting is true that there really was a $100mil on the table, that would mean at least $85mil had to be guaranteed….also the new CBA counts the incentives against your cap regardless of whether the player makes those incentives so there is really no reason at all from a GM’s perspective to offer incentive laced contracts anymore because it still complicates their cap management situation in the exact same way a fully guaranteed deal would and that’s why players aren’t really getting heavily incentive laden deals anymore.

It's not that he checked out, it's that he's desperate to show he's worth more than the 100 million dollar contract he just turned down so he's trying too hard and looking like ****.

Wait is there an actual report that he turned down 100 mil? Thats an insane offer to make him with his massive injury concerns and how poor he is on offense. Turning it down is even more insane.

Tari is showing he's not worth whatever money he thinks he should get. If he is pressing to prove he deserves more money that's going to be problematic if Ime continues to give him meaningful minutes. On top of his consistent injuries he's always been a low IQ player. He hustles and makes plays but this year he is unplayable. The team is trying to legitimately contend and Tari right now just isn't good enough to be in the rotation.

I’m not talking about incentives. Each contract is structured differently. I am talking about they likely structured the contract to have triggger dates on when they would give him guaranteed money and how much. We saw this in the 85 mil KPJ deal where only the first year was guaranteed. I believe they also put clauses in there in terms of him playing x amount of games to trigger such guaranteed money. This is different than an incentive which is extra money that is added on to a guaranteed deal that rewards performance.
