Just quoting myself to point out that Alpi is still the one who looks most likely to be a top 5 player this season compared to Amen. Last night just proved it's even further apart than I thought. Welp.
We can improve our uniforms. Too great of a city to wear trash. The player intros, underwhelming. Need more synth and a light show. For the light show to happen, you have to turn off the lights completely. When did we turn into amateurs.
sorry to say he could not stay in front of his man to save his life he was the definition of bbq chicken last night on more than a half dozen possessions no matter who was attacking
Being logical and honest, no FVV probably costed the championship. Rockets are league-worst at PG without Fred and the 24 turnovers opening night showed it. Also, look how good Fred was vs Warriors -- that series goes 5 games max without Fred. Rockets will still win 55+ games but winning it all is already hard enough, and we have our pants down and no draws at the 1.
But it was his first ever game playing more than 25 minutes. And it was against the best defense in the NBA. And against the team with the best guard defense in the NBA as well. Reed was a +/- 0 which means he wasn’t amazing or bad, he was just normal and did whatever he could. I’d love for him to continue to play and let the game show down for him. It took Curry like 3-4 years to become who is is, let’s not forget.
same as in summer league, he was getting blown by, by at least 3 different okc players he simply cannot stay in front of his man
Watching highlights of other teams and it’s so obvious our roster is just a mess. We have all these forwards and bigs, but only Amen, Okogie and Reed as wings. And 2 of those are questionable as far as ability to create, penetrate etc. Then we have just awful outside shooters across the board. The Jazz who are supposed to be terrible, the Kings among others have plenty of guys who can shoot and or penetrate / create. The double big line-up is just not going to work when Jabari is your SF and KD your SG. Both cannot keep up with wings so one of them as your forward is the max we can handle on defense. Length does not make up for that since neither Sengun nor Adams are shot blockers or guys who can really provide much once wings get inside in terms of lateral movement and or defense. Maybe some intimidation factor with Adams. So what I’d like to see since Reed is not ready, is actually to start: Amen Okogie Durant Jabari Sengun The thing is that actually Tari is quicker and could’ve been the SG in the double big line-up and it wouldn’t have been that much of an issue. But the days where we can rely on Tari are behind us.
I just want to point out how unlucky the Rockets are getting a top 3 pick in the scrub draft and then having no picks in the 2025 draft. 2025 draft looks insane so many guys went off. We already know Flagg and Harper were good VJ Edgecomb just had the highest scoring debut of a rookie since Wilt. I'm not even talking about guys like Egor Demin and Colin Coward who also quietly had good debuts coming off the bench. . 2026 draft also looks great and unfortunately we dont have any picks as well. We have a couple of swaps in the 2027 draft but then according to reports the 2027 draft is also weak AF just like 2024 smh. https://rocketswire.usatoday.com/st...draft-as-lacking-elite-prospects/85205742007/ Seems we used up all our luck with Amen.
Not worried about Reed, PGs take longest to develop BUT as a win now move, I would trade Eason & the picks for someone like Fox or Trae if available because we will need a true point THIS year.
Flawed logic that I won’t bother addressing. thunder, warriors, nuggets, timberwolves, and now the spurs all have improved. Not including jazz and grizzlies. You don’t figure out this pg hole, rox are fighting for their playoff lives all season.
I mean are you down for a 100 tip jar bet? I bet Rockets will be in the top 5 seed before a pg is traded for. If you believe so strongly this team sucks this bet shouldn't be a problem right?
I am so jealous watching other teams play, did not realize until opening night and seeing how many teams actually have guards and wings producing. We are so oddly constructed, even if FVV was still healthy. I would argue we are bottom 5 with the amount of guys who can dribble properly, create for themselves and shoot the basketball.
Yeah not the way it's taking Reed though. Comparison for you: Rookie Steph actual 17.5pts 5.9ast 4.5reb 1.9stl 0.2 BLK 46.2 fg% 43.7 3p%2nd in ROY voting Rookie Steph per 36 17.4pts 5.9ast 4.4reb 1.9stl 0.2 BLK Rookie Reed "Cocaine Curry" actual 4.4pts 1.4ast 1.5reb 0.7stl 0.3 BLK 35.1 fg% 33.8 3p% Rookie Reed "Cociane Curry" per 36 12.6pts 4.1ast 4.3reb 1.9stl 0.9 BLK I don't actually care about the disrespect to Steph in comparing Reed to him in any way, but make no mistake, it's HUGE disrespect. Curry might have taken time to be an all time great, but he still started as an incredibly efficient shooter. Reed started as a bum.
