Tremendous game by Sengun. Started slow in the first half, then got hot in the 2nd half. Future superstar. No doubt.
I've been pushing the agenda all offseason that Amen has a higher ceiling than Sengun. I did not, however, anticipate such seemingly incredible development with his 3 ball. That changes everything. Everyone compares Sengun to Joker, but I saw shades of Dirk last night.
In the "is the pace sustainable" thread, I thought there was no way to wisely slow down the pace with FVV's absence. Ime was like: Sengun with okc's best perimeter defender attached to him was a maestro. That's just rare for a center to bring it up the court repeatedly. I've only seen it with Greek Freak sparingly.
He still doesnt have Dirk's midrange game. That dribble and fade back shot Dirk had was fcking annoying. Unless Sengun can develop one.
I said "shades." Obviously he's not Dirk yet, but look at his move at 1:18. Most Dirk thing I've seen since Dirk.
Yes, but does this mean he'll get Dirk-like calls? Will Sengun be able to take out a player's teeth (Kenny Thomas, was it? anyone? anyone?) with his elbow.....and the defender gets whistled for the foul? THAT would be Dirk-level.
Sengun has really stepped up in a major way. He is the best player on the Houston Rockets. I believe the team is overdependent on Sengun right now. Plays have to be run for KD. Amen and Reed have to step up to the plate, and perhaps JD as well.
