No one's discussing that. We were going to win a title regardless. When all y'all were whining about "uhh, our core sucks compared to Orlando and Detroit" I'm the one who told you guys we have an underdeveloped championship core that would soar the moment a new coach got here. So spare me the BS about whining. Thanks.

It doesn't count if you allocated $20m to a player who anyone in their right mind knew wouldn't accept that. Every other GM will tell his agent to reject that and wait for their offer.

I'm sure you're not alone in that opinion that you would repeat the trade, but it makes no sense now. You couldn't have predicted it, but we've effectively lost on that trade already with Fred out for this season and likely to have the worst season of his career next year. Maluach is looking like amazing out there and he was this board's dream choice at #10. We could have dumped Fred and an extra protected pick on them and acquired Durant+Adams regardless so you're creating a false situation here.

It was a bad trade, it was obvious, but as I've said I think we still end up winning at least a title since we were obscenely talented and asset-rich before the trade.

Fascinating. I'd love to know how much was guaranteed. I wouldn't be surprised if the Rockets only offered to guarantee the first year given Amen's 2027 contract. However, if they offered 2 or more guaranteed years, Tari is a fool for turning it down.

thanks for posting this; hadn’t seen it. If Windy is correct I think the rockets are truly scared by the medical and did the prudent thing for the good of the team. Hard to accept non-guaranteed money on your first non-rookie contract, but if you have a real injury concern you either bet on yourself or take less money on a guaranteed contract like Johnathan Issac did. I feel better about the rockets’ negotiating posture if this reporting is true. I also understand why Tari chose to bet on himself. If he plays well this yr and stays healthy he’ll get a better offer this offseason.

I didn't realize it was that big of a difference in per 36 numbers. Still, if you made me choose between the two I think I'd still lean Camara just because of his availability vs Tari. Camara is still probably a top 5 perimeter defender in the league and has taken big steps on the offensive side of the ball too. Love his game.

ya'll ripping Stone when this is the right move. Tari has to prove his worth and if last night is any indication he has a lot of work to do.

Last night's game was hard to digest. On one hand, no shame in losing by a point to the champion on their homecourt (in double-overtime; I know, I know, "thanks for the recap, dude.")

I can say we should have won. Still, it took Sengun's Olympian effort (damn, shooting them three's, got-damn, finally!)

I guess where I'm going with this is, Eason really took a sh*t last night on the court. The Eason we all hoped had been put behind him showed up and then some. I can count three or four mistakes where he just didn't finish or make the right decision on the court. In a one-point loss, that sticks out to the eye like a cockroach on a wedding cake.

So, fingers crossed the contract thing isn't a distraction for him (his agent probably gave him bad advice: I can get you more!!!) Because he needs to show Good Eason to (a) help the Rockets win, which we want and (b) help his next-contract situation, which he wants, which will (c) help us acquire a guard who can distribute (which brings us back to what we want). Point guard by committee won't cut it.

Shepherd isn't ready. Quick, strong hands = steals, deflections. But the brothers go around him to the basket as if he were a brightly-painted fencepost.

How is 35M near max? SGA's annual salary is 55M and KD was eligible for 60M a year extension.

It does count if you have 20m allocated for a player who you think is worth 20m. I like Tari a lot and I hope he goes out and earns a huge deal this year, but to act like he is obviously worth more than 20m per year is not something I agree with.

You have a tendency to use declarative statements for things that are really just your opinion and/or speculation.

Case in point: you do not know if we could’ve moved Fred or a future first to PHX for KD, you are speculating. And Fred was much more instrumental to what we do or what we planned to do with our team than Jalen, once we decided to make the move for KD, so of course it would make sense to prioritize keeping Fred. Further, you acting like it’s a foregone conclusion that Fred will have the worst season of his career when he returns is another thing I don’t necessarily agree with and won’t grant you. And yeah, Malauch is a nice rim-running big. Okay. Those are a dime a dozen. Meh.

So, no, it wasn’t a bad trade and it’s not obvious. We now have Kevin Durant on our team instead of Jalen. I do not regret that, and I even liked Jalen.
