It's hard to take a stand at this point without knowing what the Rockets were offering and what Tari was demanding. I do wonder if this increases the odds that Tari requests a trade to a team that would make him more of a focal point before restricted free agency.

unfortunately a distraction we don’t need. And I would play serious hardball if Tari went that route. We are trying to win a chip.

but u could tell in those media day interviews…Tari isnt happy. Hope he can be professional.

If not trade him with picks for a better guard.

    Tari Eason Farewell Tour

Tari really should be traded for Picks at the Trade Deadline.

The Rod in his leg will break down over time.

The wear and tear is too much, the constant running and jumping is unsustainable.

Look at Paul George for example. Had a couple of good seasons but broke down.

It is absurdly stupid for him not to make the deal imo unless he was offered something disrespectful. The absolute amount is so large that it is not worth taking the risk and you skip on a potential contender for years with good team mates. Considering his injury past makes it even mote stupid.

doubt it. The Momster stuff started off cute but began to wear thin with me, even when I was hoping Tari would be a rockets lifer. Now I’m prepared to be extremely annoyed.

I wish we did the same with Jabari, no need to pay people premiums prematurely. Let them prove it on the court, let them prove it in the market.

This seems REALLY risky for Tari, so I can only imagine that the Rockets were severely low-balling him in their offers.

I think the Rockets have generally shown an inclination to be more willing to roll the dice on bad medicals over the years; Cam Whitmore was a medical red-flag during the draft process in addition to his bad interviews. I'd guess that this also played a role in the trade market for Cam being so depressed; if a bunch of teams had already crossed him off during the draft process, they're not going to be interested in him as a trade asset halfway through his rookie deal, now with NBA wear-and-tear (of both the on- and off-court varieties) on his knee.

The Rockets also went through the whole Donatas Motiejunas saga, where Detroit failed him on a physical, voiding a trade, yet Houston was willing to keep him around on a matched offer sheet.

The gambles they've made on Steven Adams, Oladipo, and Wall over the years also have shown them to be highly "optimistic" in how players return from injury.

No one else has seen Tari's medicals post-surgery except him and the Rockets. If he's going to be shopping for an RFA offer-sheet next summer, it's going to depend heavily on him finding not just a good match on the court, but also in finding a team that is going to give him a clean bill of health. He also runs a pretty big risk of failing a physical if he is traded during the season ala Mark Williams, which again, is very likely to cap his possible future contract offers forever.

I remember how Chandler Parsons was steered to Memphis during free agency by Dan Fegan, who wouldn't let Parsons ever consider Portland due to how strict they were on medicals, and how a failed physical would completely damage his perception as a max player.

I'm sure that Tari thinks that he is fine, and there's a good chance he is right. If he continues to improve and takes Jabari's starter spot like he thinks he deserves, then it will likely moot the discussion. But if your medicals are so scary that one of the most risk-taking franchises in the league sees something that is causing them to lower their offer, as a pure outsider that's got my antennae raised.

Tari's tonality and body language wasn't a good indicator on the media day. I felt like he was screaming " me, myself and I".

As some posters suggested, we don't know the discussed numbers. Maybe Stone was low balling to a point where it felt like an insult to him.

Being a fan of a team is a weird thing. Tari was one of my favourites. Even though he might not have a fault in this, I don't like him the same way no more.

Both had Leg Surgeries, they had that in common also. Tari must've asked a lot of questions to Cam about his recovery.

Cam broke his leg in High School. Tari Eason had Bone Graft, Taking out a piece of Bone and replacing it with a Rod, Plate, Screws.

Good luck to him and his mom in his new city. ;)

Of course once Jabari got his bag, probably like “Why should I take less than him?”

“The Rockets are still exercising caution when it comes to Eason’s health, with Udoka saying that Eason might not play in back-to-back games to begin the season.”

“Throughout training camp, Eason has been vocal about wanting an elevated role that includes more minutes and more plays run for him.”

“Trying to bump up my minutes and then bump up my opportunities,” he said. “Obviously, I've worked on my game. Just being able to have even one play ran for me (per) half or something like that, anything like that, just being able to pick my spots and stuff like that. But that also comes with the mental side of the game and just understanding where to pick my spots.”

    ___________

    …and his media day interview.

(What kind of offensive role do you see for yourself? Do you want an expanded role?) Yes I do want a more elevated role. … I’m gonna let my game do the talking.

Being upset at the ESPN Top 100 rankings. As opposed to a guy like Sengun. I know, I know, he got paid so “easy for him to say”. AS: (“I don’t care about those rankings. “It’s always different stuff. I think we should let our games talk. We have so many, I think, top 10 players on this team. I just believe that.”)

TE: (Do you feel underrated and feel you’re not getting enough credit?) There was a list that came out on the top 100 players and I wasn’t on it and I believe I’m a top 100 player in the NBA. My numbers speak for that. Numbers I’ve put up and minutes, I’ve shown that I’m a top 100 player. I think my numbers match up pretty well.

Reporting says they couldn’t agree on several fronts, so it’s clear there’s a value gap that they cannot bridge. Tari wanting to start was likely in there. I hate when players get entitled and I have his jersey. He better just keep on playing and keep his thoughts to himself. But no chance he’s here beyond this season. The dumbest thing was replacing him with a slower, older, injured player in DFS.

Stone has improved his standing with me, but the one bone I have to pick with him is his tendency to give out contracts based on future expectations rather than performance. Jalen’s bloated contract, KPJ. Even Bari hasn’t really earned his contract. It’s not helpful in this Tari situation. But oh well, it is what it is. I have to come to grips with my favorite rocket not being part of our future now. Sucks.

Well, I am disappointed as a Rockets fans no deal was reached. Nevertheless, it was not good for Rockets to take on all the risk at practically full market value. On the other hand, Tari is confident in his ability to stay healthy; so he wants to bet on himself.

The only good that comes out of this is that Tari’s contract will be more in line with an actual reality, instead of a projected calculation.

No hard feelings for Tari, but it is disappointing that a legit star will likely be leaving after this season.
