Think I’m in the minority, but the new cast isn’t coming across as funny to me. Three episodes in. Few laughs. They seem to be geared toward a younger crowd, which is fine, but honestly, are they going to get young kids to watch an hour and a half of comedy on a Saturday night. And if they are going after a younger audience, are they going to abandon political humor which they are known for. I’m not with this cast yet.
She looks like a midget troll. Her music doesn't help her looks in anyway to me, in fact, it deducts points.
This is a well discussed transition season for the show. Some of their pillars (Heidi and Ego) left and there's a definitely a talent vacuum to be filled. The show-runners are definitely skewing the target demographic younger this season. The make-up of the cast is also leading to some non-ideal talent optimization. Sarah Sherman, who is a pretty zany character actress, is playing mostly straight-woman roles so far given the casting constraints. Hopefully the show finds its footing quickly.
I am not feeling any of the new members either, but it always takes time before new cast members really gets in a groove or gets washed out. I wasn't the biggest Bowen Yang fan, but he has gotten way better. Sarah Sherman is also growing on me now that they stopped only casting her as the crazy weird girl. I do miss Cicely Strong and Kate McKinnon though.
C'mon... she had this earworm banger!!! Which SNL also hysterically parodied with the help of Ariana Grande :
Okay, no one asked but here's my honest thoughts at a time I should be fast asleep: No hesitation. She's cute AF. After watching her in an interview a moment ago: Her personality reminds me of Ivanka Trump's. Hard pass. (I'm sure she'll be disappointed when she gets wind of this news.) The song above: It's catchy. Not gonna lie, I may take another listen and download it. But she's not doing anything any other pop princess with the hottest producers couldn't do. And why does she sing like she's Latina???
Yeah, I'm a glutton for catchy tunes and beats, so I still love stuff like that song. Hell, Adele can't get it out of her head, either, and I think she's awesome : Audio NSFW : I had Sabrina Carpenter's Espresso and Billie Eilish's Birds of a Feather on repeat for miles on trips when they came out. lol.
Any of you old farts remember the Buttmans on In Living Color? This kind of reminds me of that. I never fail to die laughing at David Alan Grier's delivery at 3:12 of the next clip. I have no idea how the cast kept it together : Then in this clip Richard Dickerson visits the Buttmans :
