Amen Thompson - Point [Forward or Guard?]

Amen is Steve Nash’s DPOY prediction on the Zach Lowe Show (30 minute mark).

 

If anybody knows defense, it's Steve Nash!

 

Dang, I don't know if this is a sarcasm or serious take. Both ways make sense.

 

I like Steve Nash and he was fun to watch play.

But I remember one fan description of him in the past was something like "All time great offensive engine, but a cartoon character on defense."

 

I reckon he will. We have established a team first, winning culture. He will take a similar deal to Sengun in my opinion.

 

Very doubtful.

 

I haven’t been this excited to watch a player grow since prime JH. Man if develops even an average jumper and 3PT shot it’s going be crazy.

Probably hard considering DPOY is the "Be Tall and Chew Gum at the same time" award.

Only way Amen gives a discount is if we used the money to sign his brother,

 

No way. KD will end up making 600m minimum over his career. Can’t expect a guy to give up money on his first big contract - they aren’t comparable situations. Not to mention Amen will be worth every penny.

 

I love Amen, he played well today, and I hope it's nothing serious with his ankle.

However, for the millionth time: He's not a point guard. He's a forward with above average passing skills.

 

I've only seen the condensed version and box score so far but I don't think he had a good game from a PG perspective - which is what I'd expect in his first game starting at PG with a new starting lineup. If you make a movie about Amen Thompson adapting and learning the PG position this season, it only makes sense for the opening scene to be that he has a messy start on which he builds. The idea that it just clicks in game 1 is more of a pipe dream.
