    If it does happen.
I wonder how many of our local Republicans will support it and vote for it

I'll say it again. If Trump does this, Dems NEED to run Barack Obama.

I'd love to see how badly Donnie would get destroyed.

Yeah if the Supreme Court sanctions this (which unfortunately I think it’s a possibility this will when red states start putting him on the primary ballot and he wins R primaries) then the 2028 election will be fraught if the election even happens.

Because if the law and the constitution do not apply anymore for maga there’s no reason to honor elections results or even allow ballots to be counted fairly.

I guess we just have to see what happens but I have no evidence to suggest Trump will get clamped down and move to a position where he realizes he needs to step aside. If he was planning on stepping aside in 3 years we’d see a whole heck of a lot more Don Jr. or Eric. The fact that he won’t allow them airtime to build their brand is telling he’s not planning on going anywhere. Because if he was planing on leaving he would still insist on the maga brand being Trump and him being the godfather behind the scenes really in charge.

I think some will vote/support him

He could be on life support and they would still vote for him

Agreed - and that was my point, if he runs and is allowed to run a third time we are not having real "elections".

Correct - and MAGA is trying divide the country into two extremes.

A lot of quasi dictators and actual dictators have no plans for anyone replacing them, even when they are old and feeble - because it isn't about their country, it is about them holding onto power. Trump doesn't want anyone, including his children, showing him up or wrestling power from him. If I had to guess, Trump doesn't know what he will do in 2028, but has difficulty seeing himself not in power.

I think it is too close to call.

At his age people do have a heightened loss of mental and physical abilities - look at Biden and how quickly it happened. However, at the same time some people hold on longer and he does have the medical staff few have.

I cannot even say what is "best" for America - having Trump pushed aside and billionaires pushing Vance to the head of the ticket, or an infirmed and out of it Trump pushing for a third term and possibly losing.

I would support an even more restrictive term limit for Presidents. Limit it to only one elected four year term. And you can only run for reelection if you were the Vice President and succeeded the sitting President. This will be the best way to protect us from going the way of Imperial Rome. Plus most Presidents do their best work in their first term, anyway.
