I am not one bit surprised by this but how do young people become radicalized so quickly? If one thing does shock me is the female population of maga, maybe it's how I was raised around women in general, they were all so levelheaded and compassionate and could see through BS when some of us couldn't. A woman from Ireland and U.S. green card holder is now sitting at the Campbell County Detention Center as an U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainee and is facing deportation due to a misdemeanor that occurred ten years ago. Charging documents show that Donna Hughes-Brown wrote a bad check worth $25 about 10 years ago. Hughes-Brown says that she paid the money back and was put on probation. After she returned from Ireland in July, she was asked at a Chicago airport to sign a bunch of papers. She says she was then taken to a local detention center for five days before being transferred to Campbell County. Her husband Jim, a veteran, says his wife is not the person that moral turpitude would leave anyone to believe. He also says that he is heartbroken that the country he fought for would do this to someone who cares for others so much. “We did truckloads of stuff to Hurricane Helene. We helped with the tornadoes in St. Louis. We do volunteer work all the time and you’re arresting people like that,” Jim stated. Hughes-Brown says she did not want to become a citizen after living in the U.S. for decades because she did not want to give up a part of herself. “They make you denounce any other nation and you have to say you will not put any other nation above the United States,” Brown-Hughes said. Hughes-Brown says that when the Trump Administration announced that they were going after illegal immigrants, she was not concerned. “I didn’t feel there was a threat of any of this happening to me. I’m here legally. Did I commit a crime many, many years ago? Yes, I did. Did I pay for that crime, many, many years ago? Yes, I did,” Hughes-Brown said. She says that her next hearing will be at the end of October.
