    The authoritarian strain was always strong in the GOP (and libertarianism was always fake, even faker than I thought)

    Looking back while all the danger signs were there (Iraq war, Fed Soc etc) this moment really seemed to push them down the path of the current complete and total fascist kakistocracy. Combine it with the Tech BrOligarchs and the rest of the shameful plutocratic failsons & that's where we are

    Almost. It was a sign of a liberal/progressive shift of America. The GOP is a bigger and bigger minority. They're trying desperately to hold on to power by any means. What we're seeing is the beginning of the culmination of their last gambit.

    Crazy thing is that the majority of the architects of this gambit are almost all wealthy Boomers who are either going to die or succumb to age-related issues soon.

    Which is why they are purging the military leadership leaving only loyalists, purging the DOJ and leaving only loyalists, creating their own Gestapo in the form of ICE, sending troops to our cities practicing for occupation, prosecuting and persecuting their enemies, rewriting history, enforcing conformity, enforcing orthodoxy, etc., the list is endless.

    These guys are not going to leave office in 2028, regardless of the outcome of the next presidential election.

    There will not be a peaceful transfer of power, and this time they are prepared to retain power.
