People are focusing on Reed and Amen, but really it's Point Aaron who will step up when it counts

Sure, more minutes would help with the evaluation. Based on what we have seen in the past two years (eye balls and stats), the conclusion should either be inconclusive or that Holiday is likely the less bad defender.

 

I like Tari, but if he is starting at SG. He will have 4 fouls in the first quarter. Tari is a high energy guy with decent offensive skills, but his main attribute is creating havoc and providing a spark off the bench. Starting Tari will lessen his impact.

 

If Holiday is our starting point guard this season lets just call this rebuild a wrap. If Ime cant develop Amen or Reed, or at least try to, then he probably deserves to be fired

 

Amen and Reed are not really point guards. Reed is a scoring guard of point guard height. Amen is a freak of nature who can dribble well for a guy his size. Even in the world of positionless basketball there is always a need for a lead guard.

 

Even JD is showing more ability than AH.

 

First off, I like Holiday more than 95% of people on this forum. IMO, people dump on him unfairly.

That said, why is there any discussion of him being a starter, especially after the first two preseason games? Why is it not clear he is a very limited "one-trick" player who can only be on the floor for just a few mins each game unless it's a blowout? His entire career has been as a benchwarmer/9th man on teams that usually were not very good.

The offseason is truly the silly season. As someone who has defended him many times here, the less we see of Holiday, the better. Rockets must give Reed every chance to succeed and if he doesn't, they'll have to bring someone else in because Holiday definitely isn't the answer.

I have to believe some of you either hate Reed for whatever reason or just like to argue for the sake of it.

 

Holiday is an excellent 10th or 11th man. He will play some minutes for sure and as long as we limit his role, he will be fine. I imagine he will be one of our better shooters.

Reed needs to play. it might take a whole other season or even two, but I truly believe he has the skill set to be the perfect piece for what this team needs. I don’t think the outcome is going to be superstar, but I think he is going to be very impactful.

 

This was a wild take at this time. I like it now more.

3/D off the bench from Aaron Holiday is fine. He's a NBA veteran. I think he will be ready for limited minutes off the bench. JD and Reed need more minutes than him.
