Well sure. I'm one of the biggest Yao fans on this board, but you really got to work on your quoting, because "clove" clearly was supporting Yao and said that he wouldn't trade him for AK-47 no matter how well he's playing right now.

Yeah I realized that after I posted it lol. Sorry CLOVE. I'm a die hard rockets fan(which means i constantly get frustrated with them every year, every game). I was just annoyed that pointless threads like these get embraced (apparently)

What do you think of the rockets from an objective standpoint? Do you think they're a team to beat in the West right now?

Team to beat in the West? No.

A sleeping giant that only needs some offensive chemistry, and defensive practice before they are legitimate contenders? Yes.

Once the team starts implementing plays to combat teams fronting Yao (like the pass in from the highpost), and Yao and T-Mac start playing off each other instead of taking turns with the offense, the points will come a lot easier. And you can tell that the defensive rotations aren't there yet. Some guys are just a little unsure of where they should be going, and that split second is the difference between an open shot and a hand in their face. But I wouldn't worry about that. JVG has proven that he can coach defense and get his guys to give a good effort on D.

I'm just going to sit back and enjoy watching this team grow and come together. And in terms of the haters... well, I try to ignore them as best as I can.

That's interesting, but makes total sense. So are you surprised at the current status of the rockets thus far?

Well as much as I'd hoped that the Rox would come out like gangbusters from day one, I guess it was probably a little too much to hope for. New guys coming together to try and learn a new system, or new teammates or both. It will take some time for the team to (and I hate to use this word because it's such a cliche) "gel".

But that last game against the Kings was such a good sign that the team is going in the right direction. It was just a tiny glimpse of what this team "can be". I'm really looking forward to the next game against Memphis. I'm hoping that JVG worked on some of those anti-fronting plays, because we know that the Grizz will be bringing the pressure.

-When did I say AK is better than Yao?
-Where did I talk garbage about the rockets? I have talked trash about the rockets before, but only out of frustration.
-How am I a fair weather fan?
-Why should I grab his(AK I assume) nutsack?

Well would you agree that the kings game was simply a gutsy full-hearted effort? I'm not gonna lie, there was a point in the second half where I began to anticipate them losing. Do you think there is a possibility that this unit simply won't "gel"?

I don't think so. When you have two superstars that can score, and PASS as well as Yao and T-Mac can, then I can't imagine them not playing well together. At worst Yao and T-Mac will take turns dominating the ball and create open shots for their teammates.

But what I really envision from those two is that they really start playing off each other well. This means that they run the Pick and Roll to perfection and get an easy layup or open jumper all the time. This means that when Yao has the ball in the post, T-mac will cut hard to the open spots in order to 1-Draw attention from the defense and 2-Provide Yao with an option to either pass to T-mac for an open shot or take it himself. Or just simply playing the two man game, with Yao handing off to T-mac and letting him drive/shoot or faking the handoff and shoot or pass to another open teammate. That part of their games haven't come around yet, but I'm confident that it will.

And like I said earlier, I'm not worried about the Rockets D at all. JVG's defensive scheme just plain WORKS. PERIOD. Give them a couple of weeks to run the system in live games, and they should come around.

Well do you think other teams around the NBA respect the rockets as of now?

Probably not. We're not the top dogs right now (like the T-wolves, Spurs or Pistons). And with an 82 game schedule, teams got 28 other teams to worry about. Of course it doesn't really matter. Just beat them like a drum and they will respect us.

Okay, that's enough of question and answer time for now. Got to hit the sack. You kind of remind me of Swoly-D with your persistance, only you're the complete opposite. :)

I don't understand how someone that does not create a double team most times down the court can be considered more valuable than someone who does. I swear some folks just look at statlines and don't realize the impact that players have on the game on their presence alone.

AK is a defensive stud, but teams don't bring it in the paint because of Yao (see Webber in the closing minutes of the last game), and he always has 2-3 defenders on him (or else he is going off if his shot is falling). AK, and most players, don't have that kind of impact on a game. Yes, Yao is soft, but he does have that kind of impact RIGHT NOW.

He's just a guy that follows me around, and replies to a lot of my posts. But the difference is that he ALWAYS tries to get me off the topic and derail the thread.

Right now, AK47 is playing extremely well and Pau is a hell of a low post scorer. But in 2 yrs, when Yao hits his prime.......there will be no contest.
