Why would you be against Bagwell as hitting coach? It's not like he'd force people into his stance. He may not be the best broadcaster but I'd trust that he knows quite a bit about hitting.

Hitting coaching make 150-350K. I'd take it but I doubt Bagwell wants a fulltime gig for that pay.

Bagwell seems to have zero interest in a full time job.

I guess you never know though

Im glad they try some new voice on hitting side of things and hopefully that brings some new ideas and individually planned aproach for every player.

Do we have all the tools and toys and are using them too? They look suprised and lost very often against mid/crap SP and there don't seem to be much team AB and pass the baton vibe with established players.

Our team does't feel like they are hungry to work hard to improve as team and individually(Pena excluded). Maybe new coaches stoke fire and also get players to work and try some little changes and to do the pregame work.

Some talk about same staff changes with Toronto year ago.

    https://jayscentre.com/forums/topic/97982-dave-popkins-appreciation-thread/

"I am mostly pleased by the reports of the Trajekt and iPitch machines and Popkins wanting and implementing those. So not so much the results this year but just the information supporting the idea that the Jays are finally not behind the times on offensive game prep."

It seems a little weird to fire almost every single coach except the manager, no? Dana's putting all his eggs in the "Espada is great!" basket.

I've been wanting a new hitting coach for a few years now.

Their approach hasn't been working so something new should be good.

I also miss the Jose Altuve that focused on getting base hits more than home runs.

It is weird. Mets/Stearns did the same with Mendoza. Can this be read as manager was the worthy one to keep or both managers are just puppets and we should be talking Dana using Hader for multiple innings and not resting exhausted slumping Altuve? Maybe Joe is a tool but not a tool used and Dana micro manages everything?

We can't be so allergic to drama that we keep manager just because they have no ideas and don't challenge FO ever.

Im glad we are making some changes, we should do with new faces same than with pitching guys. Don't let Joe near them and give them autonomy on what they are hired to do. :)

Not really, apparently Espada was never given a fair chance to win with the subpar coaching around him.

Just like Framber needs to fire his psychiatrist to be better.

    Edit- This is sarcasm

Subpar coaching around him told him to burn his DH in consecutive games or blow out Haders shoulder or completely de rail the teams focus on the running game or hold any players accountable for sucking ?

When they fire the staff around the manager, it simply means the manager will be fired next year.

Or … Espada wasn’t allowed to clean house when he started?

Which is the worst possible strategy. Because next year, that means the new manager has coaches he didn't have a say in, or the new coaches that were hired have to fired after 1 year. And Dana wasted a year of everyone's time because he was too scared to fire the manager or evaluated him improperly. You kind of have to fire Dana at that point too, because if they suck in 2027 and then they fire Dana, then the new GM has a manager he didn't hire, etc.

The Texans routinely did this and could never get their HC, assistant coaches, and GM in sync. So you're always left with the blame game of who's at fault.

For what it’s worth Jeff bagwell was excellent as the hitting coach when he had the position.
I don’t think they’re even considering him though.
Bring in maldy as the catchers coach and uncle Mike as the hitting coach.
