Neither player is a franchise player, neither can have the offense run through them and neither can play consistently. Yao is way overrated and AK47 is underrated. I would deal Yao for AK47 in heart beat because defense wins championships and with T-Mac and AK47 you have a younger version of Mike an Pip. They won 6 rings while Shaq and Kobe only won 3 and we all know Yao couldn't hold O'neal's jock.

I think Utah would do this trade in less than a heart beat. There are tangible and intangible things a player does. Being a 7'5 tall, Yao is a lot more valuble than Ak-47 even he doesnt score as much as now. You cant just look at the fantasy number.

Yao's short arms are a big factor, especially in shot blocking and finishing around the rim. Gasol and AK47 have very long arms, so they play like they are taller than they really are. Yao is exactly opposite.

Still, I think Yao will outscore and outrebound both of them every year, even if he won't outblock them.

    Last year:

    AK47- 16.5 ppg, 8.1 rebs, 2.8 blk, 44.3 fg%
    Yao- 17.5 ppg, 9.0 rebs, 1.5 blk, 51.1 fg%

Also, let's not forget that Yao can do a good job guarding big guys like Shaq.

    Still want AK47?

Okay, what is your problem? You've waited for two long years and you suddenly come out bashing after two games into Yao's 3rd season? Be patient, my friend. The two superstars are adjusting to each other and things will work out. What reasons do you have that Yao will not play any better than last year? The real Yao will show up.....sometimes before this Christmas. And Brad Miller is 7 foot tall, not 7'4".

and Elton Brand is 6'8 and will never be 6'10. so spare us the "a 6'10 Elton Brand is more effective than our 7'6 stiff" BS!

Exactly. I am really annoyed to hear people say Yao is just a tall dude. Tell you what, height advantange is part of the basketball game, just like the leaping ability.

Interesting nickname for Andre Kirilenko. If he's the AK-47, then Kirk Heinrich should be called the Walther P-38, him being compact (compared to centers and forwards) yet powerful.

I am watching the jazz nugz game right now.

Ak47 is a stud! he is making who ever he guard look real silly. Carmelo is completly shut down. got blocked 2 times, and had to change his shot/lose the ball a couple of times. Mean while, ak47 is having a dunkfest at the other end. He is not on the way to be a superstar, he is a superstar in my book.

Now, as for trading for Yao.....some of you are out of your mind. I can see yao hater like amed would "do this in a heartbeat", but man.....(by the way amed, exactly what is it that make you hate yao so much? Do you even know your self?)

As good as Ak47 is, he does not draw double teams. Any knowledgable basketball person will tell you, people like Ak47 does not win in playoffs. They excell in regular season, but in playoffs, when other players spend days studying their moves/habits, they can be shut down. At least to a point where they can not creat shots.

Likes of Yao on the other hand, you know what their shot looks like, you know when the shot is coming, and there is NOTHING you can do about it. You need to double/triple team them. There is a huge difference. You either let Yao kill you or you gamble by letting your defense be out of optimal position. Utah Jazz shooters can only dream of the wide open shots our shooters get. That will win games in playoffs.

This is not meant to talk down AK47, I love this guy, and think he is WAAAAYYYYYY underrated. But trading him straight up for Yao, I don't think so. He would be the PERFECT compliment to Yao though..drooling all over the keyboard. I would trade the whole team, minus yao and Tmac, to get him. Actually, I know I'll get burnt for this, I would trade Tmac for AK47 and Arroyo. I'll even throw in JVG and colin Pine.

If we were getting Sloan back, I'd really have to think about it. But ultimately, T-Mac is looking too damn good right now. You get better D with Ak-47, but a sweet stroking jumper and tremendous vision and passing skills with T-Mac. I'll take what we got so far.

Trade T-Mac + JVG for Jerry Sloan straight up, sounds crazy but might be a good idea.

FIrst off there shouldn't have even been a thread like this supported. AK is good dont get me wrong, but why do you people dog Yao so much? Yao is good, period. Anyone dare to prove me wrong? If you attempt to post a reply, please state a valid OBJECTIVE point instead of a SUBJECTIVE (Yao's plays like a PUSS) post. I agree Yao is Soft, but his presence and skills are unmatched and I think every single one of you would agree with me Deep Down. no?

why don't you just grab his nutsack while youre at it? I agree that AK is good but just leave it at that. Why do you people always have to say dumb things like "AK is better than Yao"? That's the most r****ded thing i've ever heard. Why can't you just take some pride in the rockets' as a whole and embrace them instead of talkin garbage about them? Freakin fair weather fans.
