The post literally said Ime would start Holiday. Reed also jumps a lot higher than Holiday, so reach is negated. On top of being a much higher ceiling player. You can gnaw on the combine bone all you want, but you can’t say measurements are accurate and then say physical tests are inaccurate at the same time. Reed has short arms. He’s still bigger than a lot of players that have excelled at PG, and significantly better athlete than most his size.
Again, so you didn't actually answer what I wrote, just went on an inane tangent. Reed is undersized, you argued for hours to prove that point. Sorry.
No one is arguing with you, it’s made up in your violent little brain. The post I responded to said Reed is undersized and Ime would use Holiday (meaning start). There is literally nothing that Holiday does that is better or higher ceiling than Reed. Never have I said Reed is not undersized, but so is Holiday and Davison. Reed happens to be a much better athlete than both so he’s able to play bigger than his size. Again, you can argue with yourself all you want. Maybe one version of you will feel “right” at some point
Neither Nash nor Stockton do jump, also Mark Price did not jump much AFAIK..... I do not know why ppl want every athlete to jump.......this is like those idiots that jump at any pump fakes.
Reed scored his career high against the eventual champion last season who guarded him straight up and wasn’t missing anyone. Let the dude have a couple of games before we start talking trades.
Well i dont think anyone is suggesting to trade him now But evaluate before the trade deadline if there is really no improvement oor potential forn improvement think about possible trade targets
Sheppard is more like Mike Conley imo. He is a very good athlete. But he’s not the type to be selfish and puts team first
I know most are concerned about his shooting, but what concerns me the most is his handling of the offense, getting looks for others while keeping the turnovers down. The shooting will come around .... or it wont, but being the floor general is much more important minus FVV.
He's way too passive to be a general of any sort. FVV is really great at protecting the ball and setting the pace while playing bulldog defense. Reed right now is basically the exact opposite of that on both ends. I was getting mad at how many times he just gave the ball to Tari at the top of the 3 point line after 2 dribbles.
FVV has many great attributes but "setting the pace" isn't one of them. He slowed the game to a crawl as few can, putting in a dogfight against the shot clock almost every possession. i think with more game reps Sheppard will be fine. His shooting is going to translate, especially as the D tries to zero-in and stop Sengun, KD, and to a lesser extent, Amen. On D, Sheppard has some liabilities, but he's on a perfect team with lots of length across the board.
Start Reed and let him go. If he struggles he struggles. Give him 20 games then assess. He's 21 & a 3rd pick overall. You gotta see what you have, it's the perfect opportunity.
Reed should be a gunner to start and let the playmaking skills follow from there. I don't trust him to run the PNR yet. His turnovers in summer league can be attributed to the lack of talent around him, allowing the defense to heavily pressure him. But in the first preseason game Atlanta didn't pressure him and he still forced his passes. His three turnovers were telegraphed or just wildly off. Chauncey Billups entered the league as a combo guard and really struggled early on by being forced to be a pure point. He eventually became one of the best floor generals in the league but it took almost a decade.
He is still one year away at least......now tossed into the thick of battle...... He is going to show flashes but overall not really a stabilizing factor. They are going to win games despite of him though. Does well against the Thunder so who knows.
Jabari took coming off the bench like a champ - and got a lucrative extension... I'm very much against giving assignments based on draft position - best man for the job - period... if that makes some future potential top 5 pick wary - let em move on... lol
Reed still gambling a little too much on defense, but to his credit, he’s knocked the ball off Jazz players at least 3 times tonight and has 2 blocks and a steal. He’s probably caused 4-5 turnovers. Offensively, I like the plays he’s making, when he gets the ball in his hands as a playmaker. The opportunities are few and far between at this point, but he’s looked good. Could easily have 6-7 assists, with some makes by his teammates.
I’m telling you right now, let Reed start the whole season and he will surprise us. He will be a mini John Stockton/Stephen Curry hybrid in the making.
He's getting there. You can see the flashes. I think in the long run he'll be just fine at starting PG. This year though, with championship aspirations, it will take a lot for me not to be wanting a stabilizing PG for the playoffs come January. By next year he'll be locked in though.
