Not true. Cook has Republicans with 189 guaranteed seats + 22 seats being "lean" Republican which means +/- 6 point results. They would need to win all 22 "leans" + 7 flip districts which is very unlikely. Also cook hasn't factored in the CA gerrymander which will net Democrats 3-4 seats.

Democrats have a 7 point lead in the midterms and will probably win the House by ease. Youre underestimating the impact of Healthcare cuts next year which will hurt GOP alot

The most important thing that you didnt mention is having democratic control of the governor mansions in swing states. Democrats have the governors mansion in AZ/PA/WI/MI which is the most important thing.

The troubling part is Trump has said he will send ICE to voting centers which is the most alarming thing. He wants to depress turnout

All the months Trump focused on going after schools and erasing words and history from government agencies, threatening other countries, renaming things, playing tariff TACO, trying to take over Greenland and Canada, faking imaginary wars going on in our country to send in troops, wining and dining with big donors and foreign investors while promoting his crypto and real estate, suing media networks and reporters, firing his enemies, suing schools, deflecting from the Epstein files, building a fancy White House ballroom, and decorating it with gold, attending all the major sporting events, going to his resorts and hosting fundraisers, and the hundreds of late night hours tweeting lies, bragging about himself, and spewing hate, and working a sweet deal for pedo Maxwell.

Now just think if he had actually spent all that time coming up with that affordable healthcare plan he said he was supposedly working on during his campaigning. He has no plan!

For now, they're sticking with the system, as they should. We aren't in full fascism and the system is still functioning. The OR and CA lawsuit has already halted the admin from sending federalized National Guard from TX and CA to OR- ordered by a Trump-appointed judge, no less. IL and Chicago have also filed suit over the Chicago deployment.

And states are winning on federal funding challenges too. CA has restored at least $168 billion in federal funding through lawsuits. Courts have blocked library funding cuts, ordered frozen EPA grants restored, and pushed back on education funding freezes. The legal system is creating real friction.

If and when the system breaks down completely, states will have to take more extreme measures. We'd be in a full constitutional crisis at that point. States can form compacts to protect themselves and their citizens. You're already seeing this with the NW and NE forming their own pacts to provide independent medical and scientific guidance after HHS abandoned transparency and science-based advice.

The admin is much weaker than it wants you to think- these legal losses prove it and polls show it. The real focus should be winning the midterms to halt this authoritarian push while the system still allows it.

 

The federal government is literally detaining people based on their looks and language they speak. They are detaining US citizens with no probable cause for days. They are breaking into people's houses with no warrant and zip tying kids with no probable cause.

This was enabled by the radical Supreme Court. The system is broken. Get real

From what I have seen, the national guard is being deployed to where there has been significant unrest. Where have you seen the national guard deployed to the more peaceful areas of the country? I would say you are mischaracterizing the situation. I don't believe the national guard has been necessary at any of these locations (though it would have been nice to have the local police step up), but they are going to among the most contentious places in America. They aren't hanging out on the beaches in Hawaii or some farmland in Montana.

We both agree that the government should not be partially nationalizing private businesses, for example. We just disagree on many other issues. Government cutting funding to pretty much anything, for example.

I opposed Obama on some things, and agreed with him on others. He was actually far more centrist than I expected. You are free to search my post history. It was actually Biden that fulfilled the hopes that people who elected Obama held. Biden governed far left of Obama, despite running as a centrist.
