I really do enjoy this new version of the ECL. Seems so much more chaotic because you don't get a return shot at who you're playing week to week. I have no doubt that Liverpool beats Galatasaray 9 out of 10 times. But that one time in their house (which is absolutely insane) and they pluck 3 points out from under you. Love it. Though some games do become a bit silly. @Raz's Bayern looked like they might've scored 10 (and they might've if Jackson could finish worth a damn). Real going 4,000 miles and easily handling Kairat Almaty 5-0. But the Liverpool loss, Spurs being Spursy and barely managing a point from Bodo/Glimt...those were fun to watch. Side note, loving watching the Golazo show during these games on Paramount+. With 36 goals scored yesterday, it was constantly moving between games.
Should have been at least seven or eigth, hope the goal differential won't be a decisive factor in the end. Maybe if they made it more exclusive, a real "Champions" League without teams from Azerbaidjan or Borat country, I could somehow start to enjoy the new system. In the end we play eight games just to eliminate 1/3 of the competitors. Feels more and more like an overloaded NBA Regular Season. But simulcast must be fun, love to watch that back in the day when Bundesliga had a more interesting number of entrants.
Last season, the last match day was pure insanity...watching in real time teams going from in to out...from a top 8 to maybe being eliminated. I think there was something like 64 goals scored that day...so the show I was watching was constantly pinging from game to game. I get what you're saying...but I happen to think it's cool that teams like Kairat Almaty have a chance to play the Real Madrid's of the world. When else would their fans, being the closest stadium to China while still being in Europe, get to see teams like this come in?
100% disagree here. For my local village club it would be awesome too to play in the DFB Pokal and face Bayern. But that doesn't mean they should. These teams have no business playing in an elite competition and no European team should be forced to travel to fn China for a midweek away game. Same goes for the World Cup next year with 48 qualifiers. A lot of group stage matches will be one-sided or unwatchable. By adding more and more entrants the competitive aspect loses its value and so does the tournament itself.
I don't know who this Man United team is, they look confident, dangerous, and solid at the back.....not sure what to think.....really need Mount on the pitch more often. DD
Was looking for a reason to pick a team and Tim Howard in the World Cup did that for me. Them finding ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory makes me feel right at home lol
I mean, anyone could bandwaggon Chelsea or Man Whatever or Liverpool...I've always liked the underdog eta:
Decent time to get on that bandwagon...at least until United fire Amorim and we steal Oliver Glasner from Palace.
