Chance that they wouldve been less disgusted with him if he had been injured and we wouldve "progressed" so Stone could potentially get the idea that we'd go even further with Green. We needed that data. Ultimately it worked out. He threw up on himself and we're better for it.
Nah, despite a few fans being foolish enough to think Jalen was a good player, the Rockets had been trying to dump the draft bust for over a year before they finally had the leverage to force a team to take him.
I had been saying this for a while, even before he was traded, but I think they were going to trade Jalen regardless. There was a lot of evidence pointing towards that and I think I was proven right after the trade by Jalen's own words. People swept it under the rug when the reports came out that they tried to move Jalen to Brooklyn. Also, I believe Ime wanted to bench him during his first year here. Remember Ime hinted at making changes to the starters that year before Jalen had his magical run against mostly inferior competition. Jalen was complete dogshit for most of that season. I dont think Ime pulled the trigger because benching him wouldve tanked whatever perceived value he had. They arent stupid. They knew he was an inefficient player and yet they still ran a bulk of the offense through him...mostly because they didnt have other options...but also because it kept his counting stats high. Also. The contract they finally gave him made it palatable for any team he'd be traded to. IMO, they would have preferred that Jalen actually played better during the playoffs so they could have gotten even better value in a trade. But even if someone says all my speculation is bullshit, never forget:
False. Rockets only parted with Jalen because KD, who is an all time great, was available. Phoenix wanted Jalen. listen to stone and suns gm. Stone said it had nothing to do with Jalen.
It's not false, they had been trying to dump him for over a year but no one would take him without the Rockets giving up more to make it worth their while. When KD told them he wanted to go to Houston it killed his market, but even then, when the Rockets initially listed Green in the deal Phoenix said no, they wanted nothing to do with the bust, but the Rockets essentially said to take it or leave it.... that they were absolutely going to dump the bust on them or no deal.... and the Suns caved. If ANY team actually wanted Jalen, they'd have had him a year and a half ago.
Ironic. Because facts don't care about you trying to save face about the organisation wanting to jetison Failen Green for longer than the this offseason.
